Maybe use Babylon and go for a science victory? Or maybe use the huns and their battering ram early on to crush your opponent and wipe them out? I am new to civ so there are probably better ways.

There are a number of ways, and the nation you choose will largely depend on difficulty. On Emperor and below, you can win an OCC with almost any Leader. I like Gandhi for the simple fact that his UA is geared toward tall gameplay, meaning you have a few, highly populated cities.

Ethiopia is really strong here as well, as are Babylon, Korea, the Incas or any "Science" leader. The idea here being that Science is the easiest victory to aim for with an OCC due to having a much lower cost for national wonders, and being able to beeline and proritize wonders, and specific great people.

I'm no ace at this. I'm am Emperor level player, and that seems to be my plateau. But a quick google search will turn up a Deity level OCC Science victory guide. The steps he outlines are overkill and unnecessary for lower difficulties, but learning them will provide the basic skills you need to kickass at any level.

And if you don't have for that:

1) Pick Ghandi
2) If you're playing on King or Below, War Elephant rush your nearest neighbor and execute them. That way you can build, and tech, tech, tech without having to worry about defending yourself.
3) ????
4) Win Space Race.

It's kind of easy imo.

If you have BNW, you could make all the other Civs Venice and then don't have any city-states on the map. You should be able to win like that. I'm no expert at this either, but someone else suggested this in another thread, and I am still amazed at the deviousness.

Culture Victory is usually the easiest with Science and Diplomacy as backups

the guy who said Babylon is right. get the right starting location (you need a mountain for observatory and river for garden), and you can science victory in 250 turns.

India is the best, absolutely. Double happiness with population and double unhappiness with more cities. Great for a cultural victory.

Babylon, Science, reasearch everything. Works even better on BNW, with tech costs going up for each city you have, but can be done in G&K. Build the walls of babylon and get lots of ranged units/planes so no one can conquer you.

Is this achievement bugged? I picked Ghandi, played a dozen hours, never settled another city, won the effing game. And never got the achievement. W-T-F!

You have to play (and win) a game with the option "One-city challenge" enabled. You can toggle this in advanced settings.
