100 units in a single game? Really? Do workers count towards this achievement? I could actually use a couple more of those... The log file says my standing army is 71, and the units are tripping over each other. (standard map size) Also, whatever function key lists your military strength says I can only support 93 right now, so even if I buy a bunch of Landsknechts and guided missiles, I can't quite hit the magic number yet.

Do I just need to feed the puppet cities I recently conquered really well (caravans of food) so they'll grew a few more citizens, and that'll bump up the limit?

I have 10 wins and 22 GG's, so those are progressing normally. I just don't see myself ever having an army this big again. Maybe its different on huge maps and epic or marathon speed.

Play on a huge map and go for domination, 100 units is nothing. Just sure to grab oligarchy and the policy in honor that gets you happiness and culture for garissoned units.

I got mine from the Into the Renaissance scenario. The map is massive and it is kind of hard not to get 100 units.

If you have an older computer, be warned, the scenario is a killer on your CPU.

Now that I've captured 2 cities on the other continent (BIG cities) and one had an airport already, I have a lot more elbow room. Also my carrying capacity is up to 132 and my peak unit count in the .log file is up to about 80 (actual count is probably down from that now, because I burned a lot of guided missiles to take out a missile cruiser in one turn cuz it had 2 nukes on it, and I didn't want the AI to have a chance to launch them or move them to a city.

The AI's have been nuking each other right and left this game, and I'm pretty sure these had my name on them; I was lucky to spot them.

BTW, if I pillage or capture a civ's only uranium mine and they have no access to it from CS alliances, what happens to atomic bombs and nukes they already have?

If you have an older computer, be warned, the scenario is a killer on your CPU.
It's not an older machine, but it is just an i5 laptop with a wimpy graphics card (better than the Intel integrated graphics, but not a lot better) The standard map size is already putting it close to the edge.

my max is 152, and I usually go for science win - but always play on bigger maps

I have 101 army units (don't know if workers and great person counts because i removed them and make only army :P ) and I got it in a non scenario game after game was won (just 1 turn more). The point is when you cant afford more than X units, your gold per turn will be negative (unless u dominate the whole map and get a really good economy) So you just have to be patience and wait the turns necesary but you will get them even if your economy makes u lost 1unit each 2 or 3 turns.

I got my unit count up to 114 in that game (Zulus) Haven't surpassed that number yet, even tho' I've had some incredible "pointy sticks" scores when I start spamming stealth bombers, tanks, and GDR's in a large map Autocracy game. Gold is not a big problem in the late game if you have a puppet empire full of trading posts.

Four months later and I still only have 40-something wins and 70-something generals; this achievement takes a while.

The achievement and the log say standing army, so I'd say Workers don't count.

My largest standing army is 141 :/
Huge map, lots of AI, Domination victoyr. You'll hit 100 in no time.
And the "function key" is the Mlitary Overview.

I don't remember how supply limit is calculated. I really need to keep my Civ V skills sharp; EU4 is eating into what should be my Civ V time :/

Seconded. It's my favorite scenario, but near the end-game, it runs sooooo slooowly.

Nothing. They can still nuke people.

Huh. I have 61 wins (I started Civ almost 2 years ago, but even then, I played occasionally. Darn it MapleStory. But when I quit Maple, I went full-time Civ. Now EU4 is eating up my time). I have spawned 73 generals (most games, I go Science or Culture, not Domination). I never really paid attention to this achievement. I always reasoned that sometime in the future I would just randomly get it and be al "Oh. I got this achievement."

for zxcvbob : Say Bozo has 5 of THIS resource, made 5 units using THIS, at this point,Bozo cannot make more; he hit his (then) limit . If any of these nuits are expended, bringing the total down under 5, Bozo could build back up to the 5 limit; AND NO MORE; if and until he gets his filthy hands, somehow, on more of THIS . If/when Bozo manages to lose a number of THIS, (hopefully down to zero) those units requiring THIS lose some combat capability, and when killed, cannot be built UNTIL some of THIS can be gotten, by hook or crook . While Bozo is on the ropes, do, please, imagine Our alleged sympathy for Bozo.

But say Bozo has expended all 5 of his resources on units and then has that source pillaged, leaving him at a deficit of the resource. We all know that that gives a 50% combat penalty until it's fixed, but he's asking in the case of nukes, where you can't exactly see a "combat strength". In the case of nukes, it doesn't matter. Nukes will still be nukes and still be devastating.

RIP in peace Bozo.

Hi dasaard200. The thread I started months ago got resurrected. The problem I was running into back then had nothing to do with resources, I just didn't have high enough population yet to build 100 units. Eventually (a few puppet cities later) I got there.

That, and I wondered what would happen to Gandhi's arsenal of nukes if I pillaged his uranium. (apparently nothing, he just couldn't replenish them until he repaired the mine)

Darn. I'm usually good at recognizing necro threads but this time I got duped.
