Of course, do not forget to rush the appropriate wonders like Himeji Castle and Statue of Zeus.
For example - Babylon is purely a Science faction, but they are also one of the best factions for late game war because they reach the late game while everyone else is in the middle game. Trust me, Guns kill Swords.
While on the other hand Huns will absolutely dominate the early game and England will dominate the game if its ocean warfare.
Then there are plenty of Civs that do War and something else well such as Assyria that does great War and Science.
But civs that you might want to use to win domination is Assyria or the Zulus mainly.
I have Vanilla Civ 5 that I bought for 20$ What DLC should I get for it?
Not bad. Better than Rams actually (even tho Rams are easily attainable through ancient teching or warrior ruins) since their Sapper promotion gives adjacent melee/range units a whooping +50% combat bonus against cities.
I think I'll have to try a melee naval-focus game with a stacked Tower or two soon...
