Conquistador Who Can't Settle
I'm playing as the Zulu, and a CS ally gifted me a conquistador unit. After a long, cross-country trek to a desirable location, i wanted to use the conquistador to settle a city... and discovered that this unit had no 'settle' option. Any ideas why this might be? I've had gifted conquistadors in other games, and could use them to settle a city. Why not now? NOTE: I'm far enough away from other cities, so that's not it. There isn't even a shaded-out option to found a city.

I think I have the answer to my own question. If I remember correctly, these units can only settle on a different continent...

yes, it has to be on a different continent, meaning as long as there is ocean, seperating two peices of landmass, it is considered a new continent.

Yep, that was indeed the problem. I've now crossed the ocean, and settled. Right next to Babylon, against whom I'm waging war. :)
