Difference between Prince and King is too great
I have played on both difficulties, and won victories on both. But I have to say, the differences in difficulty is very noticeable. In Prince, I can build almost all the wonders in the game if I really wanted to, with almost no competition from other civs. In King however, there would inevitably be one civ rushing wonders like crazy, and throughout the whole game, especially the early eras, I could only get in one or two important to my victory.

Not to mention science, in my King game, I took quite a while to finally win the battle for top in science. By then, the game was already three quarters through. In Prince, I was naturally the top before Classical Era without even trying hard.

All the difficulties have a bit of a jump. It is because the AI cheats are applied in several different areas (growth, production, free starter techs, free starter units, gold discounts, etc. etc.) so when all combined together, it results in a significant increase. At least in the early game.

As you move up in difficulty, quick National College builds become more important. It is the best, reliable way to jumpstart science.

Yeah it is really annyoing. Emperor is too easy even when I experimet with new Civs or playstyles. On Immortal I haven't got problems unless I get really unlucky postion or choose Civ I don't like. However, while playing Deity, I can't beat AI in any aspects besides city state control. All these differences are tremendous. I'd rather pratise playing something between these. I really wish there was a way to bridge a gap.

You can always use an editor or a mod like "rotate start position" that allows you to choose between a half-dozen starting positions.

in the easy levels you don't have to beeline your techs. i suggest you play a game with your favorite leader on immortal. you will find you have to make sacrifices and there is much you can't do first. the game isn't really designed for you to get all the wonders. on the other hand maybe i will take back my suggestion. it may spoil the game for you because you want to steam roll through it and there is nothing wrong with that. but there is nothing like realizing when you spent your entire time building wonders on a higher level your neighbor was only building troops and now he is saying hello i ran out of places to build and am taking your cities and your game is lost.

The only way i can win on deity is to focus on one specific research path, Manually set every cities production, come to terms i wont be able to build any wonders, and pray i can reach my victory
