Best way to get Indoctrinated! acheivement
Been trying this for a while. Can't seem to get the other civs to send a prohet to my capital. I've custom set the AI to be all religios oriented civs (Celtics, ect), and been trying on Emporer and King. No luck. Even did a hot seat game were I sent prophet over myself, no go.

Any advice?

Converting cities of someone who has their own religion is considered an aggressive action, so they're more likely to do it if they don't like your face.
You should get it eventually as long as you don't aggressively remove GPs before they cause a bunch of damage (and turn them into holy sites if you're lucky and they're unused lol)

Or you could play 2 player hotseat and just go do it yourself.

1) Found a religion.
2) Don't build a Grand Temple yet. (this step is optional)
3) Denounce Ethiopia or Celts, whichever is closer to you. Heck, denounce both! Bonus points if you've given them open borders first.

Your holy city should soon be overrun with prophets and missionaries.

I'll give that a try. BTW, hot seat did not work.

I'll give that a shot also.

settle a minor city next to one of their capitals or an area of great pressure; then wait for it to naturally get a majority/a missionary to come, then buy inquisitors and missionaries (or gps if you're in industrial era)

Tried that. Multiple times. Does not work.

And so far sending GPs to aggravet then and denocing have only gotten me into wars...

I got this particular achievement after Askia brought me Islam. Perhaps it was a bit of a fluke, but 2 other times also involved him. Hence, it is now my policy to trap his great prophets as soon as I see them, until my military is staged for war and then I obliterate him and his religion from the face of my simulated planet.

Other civ's prophets can generally traverse my territory without me caring, but Askia's prophets can all be slaught--I mean shown to permanent subterranean holy site dwellings.

I don't think the achievement works if you convert your own cities with missionaries/prophets. The obvious method is obviously founding a religion on a Duel map vs a religious civ like Spain/Maya/Celts/etc. but whether they want to convert you or not is tough to control.

If you don't want to rely too much on the AI, set up a game on a Duel map vs Arabia. Turn off CS and Domination Victory. Settle your second city on a river near as many luxuries as possible (preferably Mining luxuries) within 10 tiles of Mecca and found your religion in that city instead of your capital. Keep the city small at 1-2 pop and improve resources ASAP. You want to make that city as attractive as possible for him to send caravans to. Research every early route tech (AH, Sailing, Engineering), build Caravans ASAP and send them to as many of his cities as possible from your Holy City. Arabian caravans are so powerful that they can overwhelm Holy City religious pressure, so 6 total caravans into a 2 pop city plus regular pressure should be more than enough to convert it passively.

Yeah, I was about to experiment with Arabia after I saw that religious passive they got. Thanks for the idea and tips!
