No idea what could cause this ?
When I do encounter problems, it has been due to MOD conflicts. However, I don't know how that could affect Executable Updates ?
Now when I try to launch it, I get:
updating executable
launching
after which the game launch is interrupted. Even the bootloader doesn't launch from Steam; if I launch the bootloader from the game folder, the game still doesn't launch from it.
I tried checking and restoring the integrity of the files, restarting the game, running the game in compatibility mode and with administrator rights. Nothing helped.
The problem occurs on both of my computers, one has Windows 10, the other has 11.
The exact setps I followed:
1. Right click on Civ 5 in Steam, select "Manage" -> "Browse local files".
2. Delete "CivilizationV.exe", "CivilizationV_DX11.exe", "CivilizationV_Tablet.exe".
3. Click "Play" on Steam.
4. Wait for 2K Launcher window to appear.
5. Go to "Recycle Bin", restore deleted .exe files.
6. Click "PLAY" in 2K Launcher.
7. The game should start normally.
