Unsubscribed Mods keep returning
Hi there.
Every once in a while, when I boot up Civ 5 my mods screen will be overflowing with old mods I had unsubscribed from.
When I look at Subscribed Mods through Civ's Workshop, absolutely NONE of the extra mods appear there, so it's just old files appearing in my My Games folder.

How can I solve this so I no longer have to delete a ton of old mods when trying to play?

Thanks.

Have you tried un-installing and re-installing the main game? Maybe even un-install it, then re-install it to a different location.

It occurs to me, the mods are probably returning because some parts of them are still in their original folders. Start with a fresh install, they should be gone. If that doesn't resolve things, you may need to investigate clearing out the registry, which hopefully you won't need to do.

My understanding of the reinstallation process is that it involves only the base/vanilla stuff.
Any additions like mods are left as is.
So if you no longer want any mods, you'll have to remove them explicately.
I handle this by creating a "COLLECTION" of mods for Civ5 {or variations thereof}.
In a Collection, one may simply check or uncheck each mod to Subscribe or Unsubscribe it.
If a mod has been checked as UNsubscribed, the reinstalled Civ5 won't "see" it.
The mods don't go anywhere ... One need not go back into the Workshop to search anew for prior, now unsubscribed, mods.

I forgot to mention, but this is a new computer I"m using. That means that the problem persisted from my old one. Some of the mods that are appearing are things I have not subscribed to on this computer.

I've dealt with this in the past by manually deleting all of the extra mods from my My Games folder, only for them to reappear later.
I'll look into that collection thing you mentioned.

Never had this happen to me so I am not sure.
try clearing your Civ cache ?

Edit: Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache You can delete everything in it when you restart civ it will rebuild everything and your mods list will re-download. You can leave the 2 folders they are empty anyway.
