What is the goal of this game?

I'm just wondering what keeps you guys playing the game. I have around 30 hours logged in on my first week.

What is the goal of the game for you guys or the game's goal in general.

To keep Firaxis in funds long enough so that they make a new version. It's not as easy as you think. Halfway through the development cycle for CIv V, they fired just about everybody. Sad but true.

I mean, the game can be ´won´ one of several ways, but you keep playing because you enjoy it. At least that´s what I do.

What are the several ways?

Domination--take all their capitols
Diplomatic--get voted world leader
Scientific--launch a starship
Cultural--become influential with every other civ
Time--having the highest cumulative score by 2050.

Sinestro, what keeps me coming back is the fact that I will never win every way possibly. As dcain mentioned, there are those five ways to win, but you also need to consider that you haven't really 'beat' the game unless you have gotten every victory as all 43 civs on all 8 difficulties. So roughly, you'd have to play 1720 games before you have gotten there. I think it's fun to try and experiment with this civ, or experiment with that civ. It never ends, so there is always something new that happens

I only play when I'm really bored, and there's absolutely nothing better I could be doing with my time.
