Babylon doesn't work
I tried playing it, and after 500 turns, hadn't gotten another great scientist after the first one you get when researching writing. Tried it again, and didn't get any research bonus for the academy I built. What's up with that?

To get the research bonus you need to at least work that tile with a citizen. Bablylon gets one free scientist and a 50% increase in getting great scientists, however if you don't produce great scientists, that 50% increase doesn't do a whole lot.

Producing scientists means putting specialists into the science buildings to generate great person points. If you don't develop your cities the way the game wants you to do it default settings won't assign any citizens as specialists. In that case you have to do it manually (which slows your city growth which reduces science output in the long run).

You need to concentrate of food and growth.

There are 3 buildings which allow you to work your citizens as "scientist" specialists, and you don't get the first one until the medieval period. Prior to that, the only way to generate scientists and take advantage of Babylon's bonus i to build world wonders that also generate scientist points, like the Oracle. Wonders do not accrue points as quickly as specialists, and even if you build all the science wonders, you won't notice the Babylon bonus nearly as much as you will by building Universities, Public Schools an Research Labs, then choosing to work the slots. To work the slots, make sure your city has enough food, and then just choose "focus on science" in citizen management. So long as you have enough food, the computer will fill in as many science slots as it can. (Which will remain ZERO until you discover education)

Honestly at 500 turns even Civs other than Babylon should have had more than 1 GS at that point especially if you were going for science. So there's something weird with your game. I always end up hoarding GS with Babylon and end up with 10+ overall. Make sure you have Wonders that produce Great Scientists Points otherwise they won't get the GSP generation to benefit from the 50% increase.

I tried it again, and it worked well, I got 4 or 5 scientists without any specialists. The game just glitches out sometimes.
You sure you weren’t accidentally pumping merchants or engineers they share a cool down and I’ve pushed the counter to requiring over a 1000 points in certain games?

If you are using any mods that can happen.
