Are Bombers OP?
Recently, I was playing a civ game using the gnk expansion, and for the first time, I opted to use the airforce in the game as a way of getting around ground combat. I then realized that you can stack 5+ bombers in a single city, I do not know if there is a limit to the counter, although I have to assume there is. Because of what I saw, this is essentially army stacking from civ 3 with at minimum the range of artillery. This means that not only can you protect them in your cities and then rebase if it is about to fall, but you can also easily supply your city extra forces from across the map that can be attacked by the enemy except for other aircraft and taking your base. This menas you have artillery that cant be hurt but can severely hurt your enemy. You could have an army inside your base and none would be the wiser. If you had the economy for it, you could put 50 bombers in 1 base or spread them out in order to defend. Even death robots cant stand that many attacks. This is why bombers are the most OP in the game to me now, the only reason I wouldnt use them all the time is that they have to be based on destroyable ships and they can't attack or take enemy cities. Otherwise, with enough money, bombers are the end all be all. Especially when you have a large amount of Oil for them to exist on. What are your thoughts on bombers being an overpowered defense/seek and destroy unit that could probably save you from an invading army much easier than any other unit could?

yeah basically if the opponenet has AA and your in early atomic era and your playing as germany and have lightning warfare and a great general you pretty much just run in with tigers AKA panzers and smash and encircle everything

Ok, I've looked around, and I think I've figured this out... Stealth bombers have a 100% evasion chance from interception from nearby units, but I think the unit they attack, if it has the ability to fire at air units, is allowed a counterattack. So, the interception chance is 0, but stealth bombers are not immune to damage from the unit they're attacking. Anyone able to confirm this?
All aircraft perform what can be considered ranged melee attacks. They attack from range, but the unit they attack will always fight back, regardless of interception. Anti-Aircraft Guns and Mobile SAMs have a large bonus against aircraft, which means that they will perform well when attacked by them, but that's an entirely different mechanic from interception.
except they dont because any player worth their hours knows to go anti land promotions. with all three its +100% combat strength. The mobile sam has +150%. This means a stelth bomber has 87% of the sam's combat strenght ignoring terrain. 2 to 3 stealth bombers with logistics take them down with ease and can fight the next turn.

on another note, since the air strike is basically a melee attack by the bomber, it's much more effective to use arty or rocket arty on cities if you want to take them quickly. Not to mention, in the late game or if youre behind in tech, some cities have enough combat stregth at fulll heath to one shot bombers.

With full Bombardment the Stealth Bomber only has a little more combat strength than a Mobile SAM with no other bonuses. While that does mean Stealth Bombers can still fight them, it also means that Mobile SAMs have the highest non-promoted defenses against them, and nearly the highest promoted (and don't need Uranium like GDRs)
Obviously they're more vulnerable to ground units, but they take far less damage from SBs than anything else other than GDRs. Also they're available a lot sooner, when regular Bombers are in play, which they'll beat the ever-loving ♥♥♥♥ out of.
