How to get iron?
I'm fairly new to the game and still don't underrstand much about the ressources like Horsers or Iron. If I want iron, do I have to settle a city near an iron source? Or if my city sadly is not near any iron (or horses or whatever), does that mean I can't have any of that ressource?

I also have something in my city (not capital) that when I hover over it it says Mine, but it doesn't give me any Iron. How am I supposed to get any?

I need horses becaut a city state is asking me to add horses to my trading network, but I have no idea how to get horses to my city because they are quite far from my cities. How can I do this?

Have a worker build a mine on the resource, and a worker builds a pasture on the horse (think its called pasture anyway)

does it have to be inside one of my cities?

No just inside your borders.

Like the others have said, you will need to send your worker unit to construct the improvement on the resource, as long as the resource is in your borders it should work.

You also need to research technology for iron to appear on the map.

alright, and just another question (just need a tip for this one): if I want x ressource that is quite close to my borders, but I can't reach it (let's say it's about 4 tiles away) and I really need that ressource, what can I do to get to it? Maybe make a new city around it? Or buy lots of tiles with gold coins? or is there another way I can add it to my borders or to my trading network?

You can buy the tiles to get to it. But it may be expensive. Or you can build a city. Just depends on city placement possibility.

Or you can buy the resource from others if you need to

If it's within 3 tiles of the city then you can buy tiles to reach it immediately. If it's within 5 tiles your cultural border expansion will eventually reach it, but will take quite a while (though reaching out into the 4 tile radius isn't THAT uncommon when resources are involved, but shouldn't really be expected)
If it's outside 3 you can build a city where it's within 3 (meaning you can buy the tiles, and that the city will be able to work it for good tile yields), or you could expend a great general (if GnK or BNW, otherwise a great artist) to build a fortress, which expands your borders to all tiles adjacent to it (including tiles owned by other players or city states, both of which will HATE it if you do that)
