Game Mismatch When Trying To Play Pc and Mac Together

Any way around the version mismatch that happens when trying to play online with a mac? I'm playing on PC and would love to be able to play with them. I hear this happens a lot but they fix it sometimes?

Not sure how to get the right people on this but please fix this. Mac had an update and now can't play with PC players.

This is completely ridiculous, my partner and I have been playing civ together for two years. They have a mac, and I, a PC. This is no more than a slap to the face for their loyal fanbase. this really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hurts.

I have a mac and now I cannot play civ 5 multiplayer with my friends who have pc's!!!!

This is really upsetting - we have been playing Civ 5 BNw together for years and now we can't! Great patch! /s

FIXED.

If you load the beta version by entering the code "ineedlegacyaccess" you will be able to play a legacy version of the game, which will allow games with Mac and PC users. For some reason, some DLC is unavailable when doing this. For detailed instructions see this thread:

Nevermind, Civ v will run and you will be able to join a game but once the game launches you will automatically be kicked.

Any update on this? Just tried playing on MacBook Pro Catalina v10.15 with friends on PC after downloading newest versions of steam and Civ. Been playing together for years now, this really sucks

No cross play is not supported and the developers have no interest in supporting an old game. The easiest solution may be running it on a PC or boot up Windows in a virtual environment on the Mac.
