Civ 5 updates
Hey I'm wondering where to find the update noted for civ 5 if anyone can point me in that direction. Seems like a couple times a week civ 5 is getting some tiny patch and I'm just curious what its all about. Its been doing this for a long time

Just some steam stuff or something, nothing game related. I haven't had one of those in some time now.

The last actual patch to Civ V was in October of 2014. They converted the game to 64 bit sometime after that and it wasn't until Nov of 2019 that they finished the 64 bit conversion for Macs.

Nothing else has been done to the game since then. What you are seeing is tweaks to Steam's launcher for Civ V which had some issues up until a couple months ago.

Ahh cool thank you both for the info. I kept wondering what they were tinkering with but that makes sense now. Thanks

pretty sure the adware launcher was the last update they did.

One of the most common reasons for tiny updates across games is steam shader pre-caching.

If the updates are an annoyance you can turn that off in steam->settings->shader pre-caching, if it isn't an issue though leave it on.

If a shared depot is changed that will show up as an update for any game using it.

If it is happening as frequently as you say its possibly a corruption in the steam download cache, you can clear this by going to steam->settings->downloads->clear downloads cache.
Just be aware when you clear the download cache you'll be logged out of steam.
