zxcvbob TO THE RESCUE !! My most humle thanks for that info-link !!

As a Ricochet Rock Thrower, I'm NOT going for cheap-seat achievements; 5 hard ones are on the line this game : 1) RADIO FREE EUROPE (got), 2) LONGEST.NAME.EVER. , 3) CELTIC THUNDER, 4) CAN I HAVE NUKES, and 5) HUGE MAP WIN .

This being done on standard speed, Pangaea, King, me vs. Venice ; this morning I have Edinburgh, 2-10 CITY( s), CITY(s) XI-XL, and Dublin through Ramsey ; a total of 52 cities .

I may have gone at it bass-ackwards by going Honor opener, full Tradition, Patronage opener (Forbidden Palace), Liberty right side, full Aesthetics, Rationalism top 4, Freedom 3, and finally Piety 3 to temple gold and Mandate of Heaven . Now nibbleing on Exploration for even more Happy .

Current plans are/were to build C.halls in all cities for SERIOUS HAPPY, and plop down another 20 cities correctly named, while getting into range of Venice ; I may just do that for a sub T700 win .

The question remaining is : can I reskin some cities with name changes, or go ahead with my 20 city plan ?

When I got that achievement, I played just me against Gandhi on a large or huge pangaea map, with raging barbs and not very many CS's. To make it interesting I played at immortal level. I went Liberty/Piety and spammed cities like crazy until I got the achievement. It actually was a challenging game. Gandhi got increasingly hostile, and he was spamming cities like crazy also, all those cities built nothing but military units; he was about to declare war and run over me when I unlocked the achievement.

I think the easy way to get the achievement is have 6 or 8 Celtic civs in the same game, because you'll all draw from the same pool of cities names.

Its T571 here, and Venice (with ZERO CSs in game) is about to get a YOU DIE wake up call; in a 1 vs. 1 onslaught .

Did I mention that I hate Venice ? I got the CN Tower to boost my culture to 1049 Cpt, which makes a 19K SP affordable and quickly; Faith has passed 325 Fpt, so I'll reskin some cities while creeping into nuke range . The EVIL PLAN unfolds apace .

Reskinning Celtic cities DOES NOT WORK {$@&*** !!} , back to the 20 cities plan .

If you'd rather look for yourself they are in c://Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization V/Assets/DLC/Expansion/Gameplay/XML/Civilizations/Civ5Cities_Expansion

dcain3456, I thank you for the file link, my skills with computer files are SO bad; that when I want/need to open a file section, that's a trip to Home Depot !

That said, I'm 2/5 done on my achievements this game; Longest.Name.Ever., is recorded.

Finally met Venice on T579, and went straight to a session of the UN, Venice will not see T600; I've got 6 Mech Inf., 8 R.Artillery, and 2 nuclear Missles 4 turns away from being in-range ... and all I've seen of Venice's forces has been one cavalry unit so far .

The Celtic achievement doesn't trigger based on a city name, altough the achievement is named such. The actual trigger for the achievement is that you get 33 cities as Celts.

So, anything like using the Huns, multiple Celtic civs, renaming cities etc. won't work, you need 33 cities regardless what the names are.

Some of those cities can be captured cities (so you never go city names list as far as the city named in the achievement) or you can go pass the city name in question, if the Huns have stolen your city names.

Damsteri, I agree with your logic; I prefered to do it the hard way, on a 1 vs. 1, Celts taking on Venice and zero CSs . By my count, the achievement should have kicked in about 25 cities ago ; ... but I was also setting up for more achievements in a single game, I THINK I can get 4 more to qualify as a Ricochet Rock Thrower, by getting 6 hard ones in 1 game .

These are : Celtic Thunder, Can I Have Nukes, Huge Map Win, and complete the tech tree .

Can you post a screenshot? If you have settled 50 cities, you should have the achievement by now.

Nevermind, you did get the achievement, last night at 10:42. Sceenshot still might be interesting. :)

After 2 1/2years, I still cannot post a screenshot, I still don't know yet HOW to do it; BUT I'll take many shots and can you post them for me ??

They will be in the BUG SMASHING series . Venice will let be left to survive until after the WFair ... I may get impatient after buying 2 GScientists !

I just posted 3 shots of BUG SMASHING in my public screenshots library to show Venice's plight . Please enjoy all 3 of them !!
