Civilization 5 is crashing all the time on MacOs Sierra V 10.12.6!! New Update kills the GAME!

I've already played over 650h and never had any problems of running this game. But now, after a few new updates Civilization 5 is crashing all the time when i press "next round" in the game. Come on, this is unacceptable. Is there any help in prospect? Any new fixes announced? Congrats to the new era of updates, where we get forced to update every little sH** until it doesn't work anymore. PLEASE HELP!

Im on High Sierra 10.13.6, and I also get crashes. Is your crash happening during an an AIs turn? Basically reload the game and if it happens on the same AI its a reoccuring bug I also get. I have found a way around that works most of the time but not all of the time. if you go back 5 or so turns and declare war or denounce a random civ that may clear out the issue. The AI has a bug when it makes a certain decision, If you alter its random decision choices when you go back far enough and do different diplomacy. Works similar to changing outcomes of ancient ruins by doing random attacks first.

I tend to get late game crashes during the AI turn also, & when I hit Ctl/Alt/Del, it shows me a "Render" error. I reload & then save at the start of every turn & again at the end of each turn & usually that works.

IIRC an update to the Steam launcher is the reason that Civ V is crashing for macOS and Linux. The solution is to switch to the legacy launcher until Valve patches the launcher.

I save at the start and end of each turn. That never resolves the issue for me. This is a Mac OS bug not windows.

How does the steam launcher affect an AI turn? I think you are confusing this bug with anther bug relating to the 64bit architecture change where it crashes on the launch,

The launcher is known to cause issues for some steam games at one time or another and sometimes for specific platforms (this might have something to do with auto saves and the steam cloud but I can't tell you for sure since I haven't looked at the code for steam or Civ V and I have always avoided macs.) Sometimes disabling the steam cloud can solve the problem. Sometimes the legacy launcher solves the problem. There are other services (like Big Fish) that have their launchers set up so that you can only play a game you bought from their service through their launcher (even though the game is available through other services) and this can cause conflicts anytime that information is transmitted via the internet.

Its worth a try when tech support isn't any help and I know that it has solved problems both for me and others in the past.

I've downgraded Civ to legacy thats even worse as the game just crashes as soon as I start a new game. So as for downgrading the Steam launcher, I've found no info on how to do that on Mac os. Also would it be worth upgrading mac os to Mojave or Catalina? I'm very reluctant to upgrade mac os as apps tend to fail or new weird anomalies happen. My last option is to get a PC. I avoid getting pcs mainly they fuel my gaming addictions.
