Can't use Brave New World
Okay so, I'm gamesharing with my friend and we tried playing Civ V earlier today. But we soon realized that Brave New World wasn't loading for me. It doesn't list it in the DLC list, but it lists some of the other DLC. My friend owns Brave New World, and when we last played a few months ago, it worked perfectly fine. I'm not sure what the problem is. Anyone care to help?

Make sure the DLC is selected to be a part of the game on your steam library page, then run verify game files.

It doesn't show up on the Steam library page, even though my friend does own it. I verified the game files, and it didn't help. I also uninstalled and reinstalled

Look at the DLC you have for the game, and unselect Brave New World, then select it again. It should install. Start a game to see if it is available.

Like I said, I don't even see it on the list, and I don't know why. The friend I'm gamesharing with DOES own it, we both checked, and it did work in the past, but it's just not listed now for some reason.

Have you gone back to Brave New World store page to see if it says "already in your library"?
It doesn't say that, but my friend is the one who owns it, I'm just gamesharing, so I don't imagine it would say it for me.

Sorry friend, I don't know anything about game sharing. Problem could be on your friend's end though.
I can't think of why that would be, because it's listed on his account and BNW works fine there. Oh well, thanks for trying.

This doesn't look like Civ problem, it looks like Steam problem (since you say it doesn't even show up in the Steam Library page).

I suggest contacting Steam support ( https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithSteamIssue/?issueid=803 ), or asking on the Steam Family Sharing discussion board ( https://steamcommunity.com/groups/familysharing/discussions/ ).

Do you own Civ V on the account your Friend is sharing with?

It's the other way around, I'm sharing the game from my friend. But no, I do not own the game, but that was never an issue before.

Steam share won't a share a game that you already own. It was probably the reason why he asked if you own the game. So, if you already own Civ V (vanilla) in your own account, then you can't use your friend's DLC for the game. Quite many players have bought Civ V vanilla cheaply and then found out that they can't anymore use shared DLCs.

I see. No, I do not own Civ 5. I am able to access most of the DLC, it's just Brave New World (and Gods and Kings) that I can't access.
