Does Civ 5 & Brave New World have 3rd Party DRM?
Hi,

I'm reinstalling civilization 5 and brave new world on a new computer...

1. Does steam version of civ 5 and brave new world have any 3rd party DRM?
2. if so, how many installs do I get?

Thanks
Sayers

This game doesn't have any DRM other than Steam. You can install the game as much as you want.

1. Yes, it requires Steam.
2. Unlimited.

For Steam games, any 3rd party DRM is mentioned on the store page, including a link to the conditions for that one.
Civ 5 does not have that.
It is a Steamworks game though, so it will always require Steam to be running.

But I noticed there is a 3rd Party EULA whihc states that you can only use 1 copy on 1 machine at a time...

That's two different things. There is a 3rd party EULA, the one from 2K Games/TakeTwo.

The other thing is what Steam enforces. You cannot play the game on one account on two pc's at the same time.

Sorry, I misquoted the wrong person in my earlier post.
I understand that the eula and steam drm are different.

I'm still wondering about the eula:
It does explicitly state 1 copy on 1 computer at a time...

Use one copy at a time. It can be installed on as many machines, with your Steam account, as you like. Just like any other game with just Steamworks DRM.

The EULA also states that what the Steam Subscriber Agreement says also applies.

Oddly, the EULA is very generic and obviously wasn't written for Civ5 at all.

It seems to be the standard TakeTwo EULA.
