I've abandoned that game now, but they were there - I just couldn't buy them.
There was a price shown for them(and missionaries). I think a notification came up and said I could no longer buy them. I just don't know why. I looked at Great Prophets in Civpedia, but there was no mention.
That city remained my religion all the way through, if I remember right. I could go look at a savegame, but pretty sure it never got converted.
You can't buy missionaries or other strategic units when you already have a strategic unit garrisoned in said city, e.g. an idle worker, caravan or an inquisitor.
You cannot buy them because you had an auxiliary person (workers and great people) in the city. Moving them out allows for the purchase of a great prophet and missionaries once more.
Well to be honest, I actually didn't belieive any of you.
I'va abondoned that game now, but went back to a savegame - moved everyone out of London, and hey presto: Great Prophet.
Why couldn't he just spawn, and I get the: Move Stacked Unit.
I thought it was something else. I thought I got a message saying faith purchase no longer valid.
I'll know next time, should I get a religion
:)
Thanks, but it doesn't make much sense. The mechanic is there.
