What happens if you have minus gold ?
I have never had it so I don't know but in my current game rome has -4016 GPT and germany nearly the same. Are they getting any negetive effects from that other than not having gold to spend ?

They're units retire so poor military. They also can't have any city states as allies since no income;

They both have HUGE armies though, but romes is very far behind on the tech.

If *you* have minus gold, you will stop gaining science, and eventually your units will start disbanding.

If an AI has minus gold, the same thing should happen but it doesn't; their units don't disband.

That seems like a bad design choice :/ Germany has the same tech as me now but has hundreds of troops. Almost every tile in his 30+ cities has a militery unit on it. The Ai already get huge bonuses on later difficulties, I don't think them having an infinate army size is fair.

If you nuke the units it instantly kills every unit in like 5 tiles in every direction (nuke missle)

The ai is very bad at managing gold, but they're designed to not have penalties apply to them. In my last game, Washington was losing 300-400g per turn, yet magically still had 100g on him and the 2nd largest army behind mine.
Why make AI smart when you could just buff them?

Because one is easier than the other.

Eh, we'll fix that with more buffing and computer cheating.
Oh, and nerf the player.
