Question: If I change production, will progress carry over?
Hi there! So, very simple question I guess, but I really wonder. Let's say I'm building a worker or a settler or whatever. Then a new research gives me access to a building I really want to build ASAP, so I change production, but I was halfway throught with my Worker. What will happen to the production I used to reach that halfway point? Will it carry over to the building I'm now building? Or will it "stay" on the worker so that when my building is finished, I can go back to create the worker basically where I left him off? Or is the Production used on him just wasted away and I have to start from scratch?

You know what, same question with Research, actually. If I switch research midway, what happens to the research point I used on my first technology?

Thanks in advance!

If you're working on a worker and then switch to a building, your progress IS NOT lost. You can switch back to that builder anytime.

From my experience, the same thing goes for Research.

The only thing you gotta watch out for is you're partway thru building a unit and it goes obsolete while you're building something else. The production seems to be lost in that case.

You asked about workers, which never go obsolete. Production will pick up where you left off w/o losing any hammers.

When building a wonder, building or settler, if you have 10 left and switch to somthing else and it will stay at 10 as long as the wonder, building or unit is available.

Thanks for the answers everyone! I was a little bit worried. See, I kinda have a pattern early game, and I mentionned Worker because that's the thing that gets switched. And I was a little worried I was losing production every time I switched...

Love to hear I don't! Thanks again!

Dont look at how many turns it takes, cause that can change with the positioning of your workers or improving tiles. Instead look at the cost left after every turn.
