Tamed Wolf Dead by Greydwarf Shaman- Da Frick Frack?

I managed to tame not one but TWO wolves, and the second I reach home I get attacked by a Shaman and a Brute. Granted the wolves were zero star, but... why the heck did one wolf die in 4 secs from the Shaman's poison; and the second lost 4/5 of its health from one Brute attack? My surviving wolf took two whole days to heal! I was running rank 3 troll armor and Brutes don't hurt me much anymore, but a single no star wolf kills me in 1 and 1/3 hits? Has anyone else had this problem?

Wolves have no armor and they are basically glass cannon enemies in that their health is hilariously low for the amount of damage they deal. Unfortunately that means even 2 star wolves get staggered pretty. There are some things you can help to mitigate your wolf army being wiped out so quickly, but that's later in the game and is probably a spoiler for you.

It would be cool to be able to make a set of armor for wolves though.

As @AlexTheSkjegg wrote, in Valheim wolves are totally to DPS side: the way to keep them alive is to make them to work as a pack, where the single wolf will be killed quite easily even when starred.

There are Mods which changes this situation (I've seen different stars colors, with different meanings as Stats) but vanilla situation is the one depicted above.
