Absolute Trash Game Now - Impossible to Enjoy
This game is ruined, you cannot more than land anywhere in the new land and you get gang stomped before you can barely cut a piece of wood. I could give two libbies what those few discussion board trolls who whine about how you should ignore those whining about how its too hard, No, its unplayable now. I will not spend days reloading or corpse running just to keep dying to gain a foothold in some new lands. Thats not fun, its not desirable, its not acceptable.

If you want to add an insane mode for the crybabies who sit in here not actually playing the game while they pretend to be experts all the while complaining about those who do want to play who not being able to play do so or have no desire to just die over and over. But make it playable again for those who are not interested in having all of their spare gear piled on an island where there are a multiple dozen spots waiting to add to your deaths and make additional piles of your gear.

I will be back when you pull your games head out of the elitist trolls (who cant really play, just pretend too) arses and make it playable again.

That's what I meant by "it's not hard coded" as in there are 3 "extremes" like you can decide to be mostly light armours, with a mix of range weapons, knives and bombs or a full on tank warrior with heavy armor, tower shields to block as many dmg as you can, or a dps warrior with a medium shield heavy armor or even 2 handed weapon or a full on mage, if you play mostly mage, you take full eitir food, rogue mostly stamina food, warrior more health, etc... I'm talking about archetype, I know the game is still very free in it's approach, but it still has those archetypes in.
But if you want, you can make a battle mage that has one health, one stamina and one eitir food and switches between melee and a staff or whatever you want. But the game still has achetype to @Tymon's point, a bit like in terraria, where you don't "choose a class" when you start, but you choose it by what you equip.

it's mostly for role playing purposes and to quickly refer to archetype, if I say I play mage, you can easily assume my equipment and food use and playstyle or warrior or archer/rogue.

Edit: spelling

Yep! Also, there is such a thing as 'mixed' classes, and subclasses. And even in some mmos, they allow you to swap classes at will, mix and match class abilities and so on. So it's not always something permanently fixed depending on the game. EG: I'm a warrior so I'll never be able to cast a spell or use a bow.

if you know how to probaly fight youll learn that blocking is always bad in this game. always. youre just wasting stamina effectively. double stamina food is literally NEVER needed for anything so all playstyles that dont use any magic always run 2 hp and 1 stam. the rest is just weapon choices and these arent class related at all clearly.

i found beeing able to use all 3 types of combat (magic/melee and non magic ranged) at once by far the most versatile. you can literally adjust to ANY situation at hand. magic is so strong that its never needed to spam it so more eitr is just not all that useful same for more than 1 stamina.

If I wanted to play rogue, I'd focus on stealth, light armor, bucklers, knives, bows and bombs, I'd probably keep the eikthyr power to stay out of trouble and economise staminas for when I run away and things like that. Or I could do a mix of rogue and mage just so I also have the staff of the shield bubble to be able to land more hit before I need to retreat, etc...

I disagree, the tower shield is great at keeping enemies busy while your friend is pounding them with magic and ♥♥♥♥. "Class" becomes more useful when you play with many people. Having specialised groups is fun and gives everyone a role instead of everyone doing the "same job" And blocking is safer than parrying when facing new enemies as parrying can be high risk high reward. miss your parry? you get hit. a tower shield has very good blocking, tried it once and had a pretty good time.

I'm actually super fond of bucklers, but... There was no ashlands buckler. The parry bonus at least in one on one can be INCREDIBLY useful to create openings to attack the enemy in.

like my friend and I tend to go mage and warrior in that order, so I'm on the frontline keeping the enemy busy, parrying and slashing while he stays in the back and spam spells to thin out the herds, he does the more damage while I'm mostly tanking and keeping aggro. It's fun.

yeah, that run I was doing polearm and was sad to see no polearm in the ashland, I tend to prefer the medium shield, so when there's too many enemies hitting at once at different timing, the block is still good enough to keep you alive haha but I also have good enough parry for it to be reliable
EarlSkrubb May 20, 2024 @ 9:51pm
I just wish there was a light armor in either the pains or mistland (that isn't the mage armor) so I could more reliably do a rogue build and focus archery, stealth attacks, bombs and a hit and run tactic.

Yeah. Makes sense. When you kinda think about it... The tower shield is basically 'pure defense', the buckler is more 'offense' oriented, because if you parry, it gets huge bonuses, so it's got a LOT higher chance to stun/knock back the enemy than even a tower shield parry, but with just plain blocking it sucks, and the middle ground 'normal' shield is sorta...well, the middle ground.

Also, kind of random, but... Is it normal for the fortress bone arbelest things to attack the charred that are INSIDE the fortress? If it is, that's just...weird as hell. I bashed down the gate of one just now, and I noticed that half the things inside were almost dead... And then I notice lines flying from the sky towards them. When I got more out in the open I saw the "skugg" shooting at the archers/warlocks etc inside the fortress. like, wtf xDDDDDD

..... LOL idk XD, I know that the old design of the turrets you can build used to fire at you too, but now you have to put a trophy of the enemy you want it to fire at or something (never used them, I should) so maybe they used the same code so they fire at everyone? it's def funny tho, but didn't see that in my game, but didn't pay attention to it either

Charred: LET'S MAKE A MIGHTY TURRET MADE OUT OF THE BONES OF OUR ENEMIES, SO THAT THEY WILL NEVER GET INTO OUR FORTRESSES!
10 minutes later:
Charred: OH FADER, THIS WAS A HORRIBLE IDEA, IT'S GOING TO KILL US ALL. BONE TURRETS, WHY HAVE YOU BETRAYED US?!
