HELP. My deer meat disappears

Every time I cook deer meat it just disappears after I collect it. I even put a stack of cooked deer meat in my inventory that my friend had...when I picked it up it made a weird sound. Do I have to start a new world because of this?!!!

that's a mod that auto collects cooked food.
i use one that's similar and it also auto cooks for me. it makes pretty much the same weird noise.

check nearby storage that already has cooked deer meat. that's where it will be.

I have not installed any mods. The food just disappears.

I cooked two more pieces of deer meat and it disappeared again. there is a chest maybe 5 feet away but it looks like I pick it up. I tried this in two different locations too

then your friend has the mods installed onto the server your playing on.

I am currently playing on my own server with no mods. I could not collect cooked deer meat in these scenarios:

Different character on same server
Main character on new server.

I do get "Coal," after grabbing the deer meat off of the cooking station, that is it. I wasted 20 meat trying to cook it.

What do I do to fix this, reinstall game? I just bought game on Xbox. I should try cooking meat on that platform.

You're letting it sit on the hook too long. You need to pay attention and pull it off as soon as it's done cooking (hissing sound like heavy steam escaping and the meat changes color). Another 10 or so seconds will cause it to burn and turn into Coal.

I will try and see if I can cook better. I don't see how It could have happened to me with like 40 deer meat as I don't always get Coal

ah, didn't know you had been letting it sit that long. avatar.zero is correct. that is your issue then. you had made it sound like it had fully disappeared. that would have been a mod auto cooking and collecting instead.

but letting it cook all the way is a great way to get coal early too. as in time you will be swamped with deer meat. and it will no longer serve any need for food.

No problem. I'm pretty sure just about all of us had to learn that one the hard way.
