Otherwise it would be a constant round of add-optimize-add-optimize-add-optimize which would stretch the development process out a lot longer.
Be hopeful you are not one of the few who are having FPS issues no matter what they do. I am rocking an i5-10600k with a 2070S, blah blah VR computer, and I can barely get above 35 FPS in my 2 house base.
*Yes I have already tried all the things posted in all the threads, I am just SoL until they fix it.*
Totally agree... just not easy finding the money lol
that had crossed my mind as well when i saw the recommended system requirements but after reading and watching all the high praise reviews ... i had to get and add my support
Its more important to know how to tweak the game by yourself, than just slap a high end gpu with 0 knowledge.
Thats how many series 30 users got a performance like mine, with things like fast vsync instead of ingame one, or editing that unity .ini to get the game utilize more cpu and gpu.
Just a general PSA, hehe
Ps: oh, after q search, looks like a 860m (no desktop version for this) is weaker than a 750ti, so here theres truly a hardware issue :P
im gonna test the config tweak tonight
im using a Lenovo Y50 70 laptop.. for now.. would you care to explain how to edit that unity.ini file?. sound interesting
The file edit works wonders, but since it increases gpu use, temps get higher, but not too bad in my case.
Also the final tweak I recall to be using is the steam launch command to force true/exclusive full screen.
Now playing with high settings (except shadows) most of the time with solid 60 fps and almost no stutters at all...and "just" with a 970.
Fire / torches do still take a big performance and temp hit though.
When I first ran the game, without those tweaks, it ran and looked so bad I almost refund, lol.
edit: the config tweak someone posted is adding:
to the top of \steamapps\common\Valheim\valheim_Data\boot.config
