Your solution would work if the maps weren´t completly random. The search for portals would be a huge pain as they would be placed by RNG. Wich could lead to no usefull portals at all if you are unlucky with your seed.
Or y'know... the PINNED thread?
There are already unlucky seeds, but if you want to take the luck out of it, just put the seed in here and if you don't like it, try a different one before you play a new game:

Nope. That totally ruins the exploration part of the game. The idea of randomly placed portals is simply not a good one. Even if you can look at the map before, it would slow down the game a LOT.
For you it does. So you don't go to the website that shows you the map.
For those that want it, it is there.
BTW, the map doesn't show everything by default. First it just shows you a map like you would see if you used the cheat code to reveal the map. It shows you the spawn location (no big reveal there).
You can then check a bunch of boxes to show more and more. If there were portals on the map, they would add a box to show the location of those.
Not everyone plays games the same way. Just because you like exploring unknown territory, others may not and would welcome something that shows them a few of the locations of things on the map. Not sure how many threads there are on how do you find the Trader.
I dont see many, even in the 1200 reply Topic there are like 800 replys from just 3 People.....

No need to defend what you do with your maps. I know how it works, i used it to get an idea how the world generation works, never played a seed that i saw there tough.
