Thunderstore is the one i use for a lot of games. It also has a good launcher too, never used NexusMods so i wouldn't know if they have one.

Seconding Thunderstore.

I haven't used Nexus or their manager for Valheim, except to download mods I've already downloaded and installed on Thunderstore so that I can endorse them on Nexus.

Does the thunderstore launcher install bepinX or I have to do it manually like with Vortex?

(I know it's easy, but i'm a special kind of lazy)
Thunderstore is the best mod manager for Valheim in my opinion.
easy to use, easy to update.

no it does not, you have to find it and download it as well, but Thunderstore also can grab dependencies. its simple to use.

+1 more for Thunderstore. I didn't like Vortex much when I tried it (1,5 yrs ago), also there where controversies about ownership of mods on Nexus - but I don't know the details or the status of that currently.

When on Thunderstore, be aware that you don't have to install the whole wolf-thingy software from them, only R2Modman (at least if you just modding Valheim).

R2Modman takes care of any dependencies (f.ex. BepInEx), and updates. You can also make profiles and play vanilla.

I've only used 1 Mod - Planbuild - which is for making 'Blueprints' of (any size)builds, so you can export them to any seeds/worlds. It also has basic terrain tools. R2M installed for me 3 dependencies for that 1 mod.

Adding that BepInEx is pinned on the list of available mods in Thunderstore, so it is super easy to find.

Well I will try Thunderstore. Do you suggest some mod to try?

in my limited use of thunderstore.. it has the ability to run vanilla while leaving your mods intact. so you can get latest version of Valhiem and when your mods dont work you can at the click of a button run vanilla .. and waut for you mod to be updated.. which is all easily visible in thunderstore :-)

In addition to the plain "Start Vanilla" option it provides, with Thunderstore Mod Manager / r2modman you are able to "Disable" mods individually (which basically adds a ".old" onto the plugin files) and re-enable them with one click. So if all but one or two of your mods are working fine, it's not a big deal to just disable those one or two and re-enable them later.

I prefer to use r2modman[valheim.thunderstore.io] (found, somewhat ironically, through the Thunderstore website) when doing modded maps. It's more-or-less Thunderstore's mod manager, but without third-party overhead. Also automatically locates and installs dependencies on your mods (so you don't have to go after BepinEx itself - if one of your mods needs it to run, the manager will download and install it for you), though that really seems to come down to Thunderstore apparently being better at keeping track of such things for the mods they host.

EDIT: And I see sarteck managed to ninja me on mentioning r2mm (and providing a better overview of what you can do with it).

So in the ThunderStore launcher I downloaded BepInExpack. I still don't undestand. Does the laucher install BepinX or not?

Ok. Everyone say that ThunderStore is easy to use. But somehow even after downloading the mods the game doesn't recognize them. Or at least ValheimPlus.

And I can't create new characters. And the one created are all, balds and without clothings.

Edit: somehow I managed to discover that, ValheimPlus was the mods that gave me problem. Do someone know if that it's because it's not updated or some other problem?
