Still no way to break down items?
Title.
No trashcan, salvage button on the workbench, or any sort of way to delete the items I made that I no longer need?
I hate having to throw this into the ocean only to have it end up in my inventory again.

I toss stuff in dungeons, you only go through them once so youll never see it again

There is definitely a way to get rid of stuff without littering your world. Thor also has a day job as a garbageman. Take a look at the Obliterator for more info. :cozybethesda:
there is a way, though i forget the items name you need to build.
just don't build it near your builds as it can damage them.

If you don't mind a bit of modding using R2 Modman: https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/virtuaCode/TrashItems/1.2.5/

Items outside of workbench range will despawn in a few days naturally. You could dig a hole away from any base items and toss stuff in there.

Although I admit that the obliterator is fun to use, as long as it isn't next to anything important.

Disassembling / recycling Equipment, incl. a certain material loss, is a feature missing IMO. Please turn the obliterator into a recycler.

Disassembling / recycling equipment (for getting materials back) will never happen because it would get exploited to bypass the "metal restrictions" that portals have.

That's hilarious and sad at the same time... How long has it been since launch and this desperately needed feature is STILL no implemented?

HOW HARD CAN IT BE!? Having to many items on the maps causes lag and lowers FPS...

do what we do in real life dump that ♥♥♥♥ in the ocean and be done with it

The question has been answered for me and there is a feature to remove items. If you have issues other than what is in this discussion feel free to start your own topic.

With a 50% (example) material loss? Why should someone who "exploits" then not just transport using a second map/world or use the console?!

Good info on the "obliterator" item, although... I'll add my voice to the preference to recycle old items for materials used in construction. The argument "will be exploited to transfer metals through protals" isn't an exploit, it's a strategy and damn steep amount of work that nobody should be saying "you're not allowed". Horse-pucks.

If a player puts coal, smelting, forge tables together sufficient to enable transfer of weapons through such system, I think they've more than earned the privilege. If you want to curtail that, instill a "loss" of material on recycle... but, as with other "gods" which make rules for their own universe, dump being stubborn, unset your heels, and give players the "fun" and systems they are willing to earn.

Valheim is a good game, don't lose your player base to another developer and game just because they're willing to listen to their player base while your developers are being stubborn.
