Can we disable events?
I read about how the "events" are tied to the progression of the map. So if someone new joins your game and you're trying to show them around and get them used to it, they have to deal with the same higher level Events as you while still trying to figure out how to even eat.

It should be in the options when you start the game to disable the random Events like it is in other games. Like the Conan Exiles "Purge" system that makes random enemies attack your base can be turned off completely or have it's difficulty altered.

There used to be where you could bring up the console and type in imacheater then use stopevent, which stops the current event. But only worked on local servers not dedicated servers.

Not sure if it still works or not.

imacheater now became devcommands. You can look that up. There must be some command that stops the current event. Then there's always the "ghost" command, which makes you invisible to enemies.

I know this because .... a friend of mine .... told me. I ... never cheat ...

You can also build moats/earth walls so that enemies (land ones at least) can never get to you.

Its not only events , when kill bosses , in night time will spawn harder mobs ( graydwarfs > skelletons > fulings )
Best way without devcommands its to start in a new seed but you can keep playing with your old character and pass equipment to new seed for your friend

There is also a mod that turns off events (search ThunderStore for "raids" and/or Nexus for "events")

Pretty much this ^

Just get the elder trophies and metal in a new world, and you can circumvent events by not killing any bosses.
The worst event you'll have then is boars attacking. lol

use the devcommand resetkeys. it resets the events back to just hogs and neck attacks and reset any boss progression(killed) to 0. So it'll be like you just started a new seed. It doesn't affect any of the boss trophy's placed on the alters and it also doesn't mess with anything you've built.

I generally don't mind them, though I play on my own mostly. The only exception is the troll one. I DETEST the troll one. Because they keep knocking down my boar pen and killing all my boars. Even with cheats it's a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get back the seven two-star boars I keep in there. Not to mention the cross-continent on-foot trip I made for three turnip seeds fortuitously near the border of a swamp that the trolls seem to always target as well. And I can't use cheats to kill the trolls because that will also kill my boars! It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain in my rectum.

I wouldn't get a new player to start in your completed world. Best to start in their own world and you join them to help them get used it.

I don't know the viability for you and your friend, but one method some do is seed map hop. Make a map for resource gathering where no boss is ever killed. This way only the first event ever spawns. Then make separate maps for the boss fights or even one map per boss

Most events are easily nullified with either high earthen walls around a base or a decently deep trench or both. I tend to do both with the walls around the base and a trench but then at the entrance, I put a tall column of earth so that you have to just slightly up to get it(keeping out the door width mobs) and trolls of course cant get in either. With a trench, trolls will just stand there til the timer of the event runs out. You can just then stand on the higher ground and pick them off with a bow or wait it out.

That's why I wrote this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/892970/discussions/1/3180106719139910555/
Single side one can use devcommands but, if I've to invite new friends into a mp server, me and currently playing friends are far forward new ones: why they should face our same events?

As far as i know, there are 2 "legit" ways to "disable" events.
The first one is to spam the area with workbenches or campfires. I mean the big area around your base. It should cover at least 50% more area than event circle. This way event will happen, but no enemies will be able to spawn.
The second one is to make a basic hut in a distant location and wait there for event to happen. As soon as it starts, you run (or teleport) out of the area and don't ever go back. The thing is that when you are not in the event area, the event is suspended and waits for you to get back. In theory it should last forever. And, since there cannot be 2 active events at the same time, you should be safe in your base.

I would go with the earth walls strat, except that makes my base look god awful. I enjoy making a quaint little Viking village, all aesthetically pleasing, and earth walls would ruin that.

New event cancels the current event. This trick wont work.

Really?
I didn’t know that. 🙁
We had suspended event in our main village on multiplayer server for 3 or 4 RL days until someone finally needed something from there so he had to go and fight. I thought it will be suspended there forever if nobody interrupts it.
