What Happens If I Kill First Boss?
See title. Will the game get crazy difficult all of a sudden? I'm not ready for crazy difficult.

If you're based in the Meadows (with basic defences in place) it will get a bit harder but not by a huge amount. Don't go out at night, go to bed early, stay away from hot Viking women and you should be ok :)

It will get slightly more difficult. Nothing too bad. Instead of creatures of the forest being summoned to attack you, you'll get greydwarves and greylings. It's slightly more challenging, but not by a whole lot.

Difficulty is generally tied to biomes. Bosses give you access to the resources the harder biomes have. However, once you defeat the first boss, the raids that can attack your base will consist of enemies from the Black Forest, which is next biome after the Meadows. If you find the Black Forest enemies way too difficult, then don't kill the first boss until you feel comfortable with harder enemies.

The rise in difficulty is more then offset by the metal weapons and armor that become available to you.
Now me, I have 90+ hours on this save and am starting to think about going after the second boss. Biggest issue I have is i read that it could take a couple hundred arrows and I cant think of a more mind numbing adventure....
More research maybe.

It gets easier because you can start crafting real armor and weapons, boats, upgrades etc.

But it might get more annoying with increased mobs coming out at night. Nothing you can't easily handle, just more of them.

And, you'll start getting raids. They're random, fairly rare, but still not hard.

I believe the only things that immediately change are that the raids are upgraded from boars/deer(?) to Greydwarves and their variants. As well as I believe Greywarves are allowed to spawn at night in the meadows, though still rare. Other than that, nothing else negative I believe. You'll get the drop necessary to make the basic pickaxe from the boss so your options will open up for crafting.

I think I may have read the same advice for soloing the second boss... I over-prepped and went in with ~250 arrows, came out with ~190... so that estimate was very wrong! If you have leveled armour and bow, you'll be fine!

That being said, once you beat the second boss you'll start getting swamp raids instead of black forest creatures, and if you've also killed a troll, you'll get troll raid events, too. both of these raids are a SIGNIFICANT step up in difficulty if you're not prepared!

The second boss is a much higher difficulty spike than the first one. I'd say do the first as fast as possible, because the power you get is really good.

Running faster and taking less stam to run and jump really cuts down on travel time.

I wonder..
Created a new world with a character who already defeated the first boss. Then I defeated the second boss, but never put the trophy in its place because I like the power the first boss gave me more than the second boss would.
Day 90 and I never got raided. Is hanging up the trophy at the collection of stones at the beginning the trigger for these events? I also killed several trolls, but never got a troll raid.

I've seen the claim that it's a 20% chance to trigger every like 40 minutes or something if you're near a "base" (criteria unclear).

That's why it's being screwy. Boss progression is world based, not character based, you won't trigger the raid mechanics until you go beat up the new copy of Rudolf.
1st boss is easy and his drops allow you to craft a pick ax. Do it.
