Swamp size and probability of having crypts
I've found a few swamps but so far they've been small and had no crypts. What's the spawn percent w/these things? Thx

From my own experience it seems crypts spawn in clusters. You either find a swamp with a bunch or none at all, never anything in between.

Best way I've found to find crypts is to sail around in Karve and look for one close to shore. Once you find one jump out and explore around. Don't forget your poison resist and portal kit.

It’s starts off tough, but once you get in and start getting your iron, thing will start to change.

Swamps spawn in a ring X distance around spawn. I often found micro swamps no crypts, but if you sail that circle you’ll land a big swamp quickly enough and I usually find 5-10 crypts on a big one

Get good food buffs and the poison resist. Always have three food buffs active all the time.

Never go in the water in the swamps and you never have to worry about the leeches. If you have to go in the water, look around. Leeches are very easy to avoid and are easily killed with arrows when you are not in the water.

Blobs are very slow and easy to kill with arrows.

Swamp really isn't hard if you take it slow.

Look up for really BIG biomes, usually the small ones are, as expected, less possible to have crypts, I found a really big one with 5 crypts on it, pretty much enough to craft full gear and 2 upgrades each give or take.

As some said, don't forget poison resist, AND honey, I cannot stress enough on how much of a lifesaver Honey is, 5 hp regen per tick is basically double sausage and meat if you don't have anything better.

Craft stamina mead and build a fire inside the crypt to keep your health up instead of draining in the damp dark

Thanks all for advice. Most helpful! Yes, I know to stay out of the water ;)

On a side note, I passed through a swamp and found another meadow. There I discovered a big village w/a longhouse and five more homes. To my surprise this was a home for draugrs. Took me about fifteen deaths to clear them all out. The archers are brutal. And there was an elite draugr in the longhouse. Now I own his home, got iron nails and a scheme for the longship.

I started to use the world generator map on my second playtrough to see where the bosses are and the merchant, easier to plan a route trough the world while shortening the exploration time, since most of the biomes are pretty much the same.

additionally if your capable, make a few Minor Stamina Meads ... very handy in the swamps being wet all the time. really though, if you are good with shield parrying, have fully upgraded bronze gear using a mace as your main weapon you should do fine with carrot soup/cooked meat with either turnip stew(if you have access to it yet) or honey for you third.

again stamina and poison resistance meads are vital regardless of your food choices.

Haven't found the mace build yet. Mostly going w/brass armor, sword and arrows. My food needs an upgrade as I'm using a lot of deer, berries and honey. The sausage and queen's jam are good. Haven't gotten carrot soup either. Need to make a distillery too.

@Talu I found the merchant once and haven't been back. I didn't have any money to trade. If he has something worthwhile I'll go back, but from the posts I've read he seems unnecessary.

Being able to carry 450 lbs instead of 300 lbs makes a huge difference.

@ Ebyl Say what? You can increase carry load? Color me ignorant.
