Fix mobs spawning in bases please.
I had a brute spawn in my fenced off garden inside my walled of house and garden and he smashed a bunch of my crops while trying to break a fence. I've had spawns inside my walled off builds a number of times even when I had everything pathed. It's kind of annoying having mobs break your stuff from the inside. Defending a raid is completely acceptable, but spawns inside my base should not happen.

use buildings that prevent mob spawning
when you use stuff that doesn't prevent spawning, like walls/roofs/floor/doors then mobs will spawn

You need to check Monster spawn points are not in the boundary of where you want to make a base, this will only take you a few game days to check.

So I should just make one big building. Not very conducive to making a build I would enjoy.

Yeah, there are no spawners or anything like that. Just some open plains near the water.

Just build a few workbenches and make sure there is no area inside your base not covered by a workbench. Workbenches prevent spawns within their radius of action. That's all you need to do and you will not have spawns in your base again.
Great suggestion. I will try that, thanks you.

No need to make one big building, why would you think that?

well, game isn't building simulator ;D
compact bases just for stuff and that's it

for free building you can use mods that despawn mobs or increase no-spawn range of buildings or add this no-spawn range to walls/etc (if mod like that exists?)

here is list of buildings that prevent spawning in 20m radius

you don't need to lit stuff

They're saying that some building elements completely prevent spawning of mobs from within a certain radius.

Most commonly, players use workbenches, particularly since their radius is visible. If you note the radius when you're placing a workbench, no mobs will spawn inside that radius. So... you can place them strategically around your base (inside and out) to prevent any mobs from spawning.

Normally, I'll have a protective moat, or wall, surrounding my base, structures & gardens. As soon as feasible, I'll go around and place workbenches so that 100% of the interior area of those walls is completely encompassed by the protective "no-spawn" radius. Ta-da... no more mobs spawning inside your base.

Of course, nothing stops them from spawning *outside* of your walls, and then wandering in. Or swimming, if you have a waterfront base.

No, just make sure you have Workbenches covering your base. If you have a Village or a Town you're trying to build, just keep an eye on the radius, then go to the edge and build another Workbench. Eventually you'll have your entire area covered by a bench which will allow you to build anywhere and prevent the spawns.

Warriat117 said that I need to use buildings to prevent spawning. Though they also eliminated building pieces from that suggestion so...

Yeah, I got that from Kestar's suggestion. Thanks.

I'd like to point out I have a base that has multiple workbenches inside the perimiter, I've manually checked every inch to make sure they're covered by them (the base isn't that big) and they are.

Sometimes mobs would still spawn inside the base during invasions.

Then I put a gate on the palisade around the perimiter and that stopped happening. Now mobs just try and swim through the water (unsuccessfully) to get around it. I dunno, maybe indicative of something.

why eliminated?
just build the preventing ones in a way that they cover decorative ones

Workbenches will prevent spawns in their radius, they will NOT prevent mobs from strolling into the radius !
You need to do that yourself by building fences, gates or digging moats.
(also, do not forget to close said gates or doors, or they will still enter your base)

Yeah I got that. I have stakewalls surrounded with sharp stakes for now. I will eventually build a mote when I move on from this temp build to my final build. I have used a mote before on a previous build and it worked fine except for spawns inside the walls, as it wasn't protected by workbenches.
