The small patches are Steam, not Valheim. I believe something to do with shaders?
PS: Unfortunately nobody reads pinned threads anyway.
How can a game preload so much and still run like ♥♥♥♥?
Also, once created, so long as the size of the available cache is large enough to accommodate all the shaders that are needed for every game recently played, a game shouldn't need to recreate the shaders.
Edit: Found out there is such a thing as SteamDB which lists all the patches/versions of games and their releases. Apparently the last public patch was the one on December 14th. Makes me even more curious what steam is downloading then...
Edit2: Thanks for merging and clarification, somehow must have missed the pinned thread... I am actually aware that steam does this for certain games, usually its just not 100 mb so I didnt even think of this being the case here
But, A) why is it only Valheim then? Have bunch of other steam games that also use that same common redist, but they don't constantly redownload it everyday. They somehow know already have those files and don't redownload constantly
B) Regardless of above, any way to stop this? Not a huge deal given small file size so dload bandwidth not an issue, but it is annoying
