Valheim updates everyday / Small download everytime you start Steam

We know it is annoying. The downloads are caused by a Steam setting called 'Shader Pre-Caching' and this has nothing to do with Iron Gate or Valheim in general.

Please refrain from creating new threads on the topic matter!

These small updates are pre-compiled GPU Shader downloads. Shaders help Vulkan and OpenGL games to load faster and improve framerate stability during gameplay.

If you wish to disable this option, just disable Shader Pre-Caching here:
Steam > Settings > Shader Pre-Caching

A patch every day?

Just curious, but is this game getting what seems to be a patch almost every day?

Trying to figure out if something is amiss on my side of things.

Yepp. Feel free to shoot us (moderators) a message if you figure out what it is. I assume Steam is downloading Cloud Saves or sth, but this is not confirmed.

I have Cloud disabled but still get those tiny updates almost daily, so it can't be that.

well looking at my steam folder the relevant files seems to be appmanifests and gameoverlayUI files.
theres nothing modified in the Valheim library since the 17th.
so that tells me it has to be Steam just tweaking config files or some such.
doesnt explain why its linking to Valheim though; unless its the way they sync your Steam UI with relevant data for the games you play?

Never stop an Update Valheim on the Steam-Client

in about two or three weeks, I've been reporting that the Valheim's update has been done every time when I launch the Steam client. (in Download-page)
It seems that it's done once or twice times per day. (3.5MB, 2.8MB or 1.8MB....etc)

I did try reinstall program of Valheim, overwrite program of Steam and as delete a download cache as well. but it's not stop update everyday.
There are some people reported same issue in Japanese forum too.
Do you have any idea ?

ここ数週間の間、Steamクライアントを起動する度にValheimのアップデートが実施された旨の報告がダウンロードページにてされ続けております。　一日で１～２度ほど異なる容量で行われている旨が表示されます。（3.5MBだったり2.8MBや1.8MBなどなど毎回異なる）

念のためにValheimの再インストール、Steamの上書きインストール、Steam内のダウンロードキャッシュの削除なども試してみましたが、このアップデートは止まりません。
日本のフォーラムでも同様の報告もあるようです。

何かアドバイスなどがありましたら助言のほど宜しくお願いします。

is the game installed on a hdd or ssd?
steam game updates use tons of iops which are very slow on a hdd

try to verify game cache
steam -> library -> select game -> gear/manage -> properties -> local files -> [verify]

HDD using (steam and game are there in C: drive)
Yes I was, I did try to verify program some times, but it was not be solved, so re-install game after that....but never stop an update

現在はHDDにSteamとゲーム本体をインストールしています。
それと「ファイルの整合性」は既に試してみたのですが、それでも解決できなかったのでゲーム本体の再インストールをも試した状態です。　しかし毎日のアップデートは止まらない様です…。

try changing steams download region
steam -> settings -> downloads -> region

Ok, Im just try to change a Download-Region 'Japan(TOKYO)' to 'USA(LA)' now.

アドバイスの通り、Steamの設定からダウンロード地域を、「Japan (東京)」から「US (LA)」に変更してみました。１～２日ほど経過を見てまた報告させて貰います。

ちなみに16時間前に報告があったアップデートから現在までの間で、一度もゲームは起動していません。
う～ん、何がいけないんだろう…

I have the same issue, Valheim updates daily <10MB.
I guess they don't push minor patches everyday so something is wrong.

There have been a thousand threads about this; a forum search would have been helpful to run.

It's not the developers pushing updates, it's just Steam doing stuff. No one seems to know why or what exactly the updates are, though.

aha, I did a search before posting this, but apparently the word for the search wasn't right X)
As you said, I could find some threads of reporting with the same issue.
(but still it seems doesn't found a solution)
Its not have any problem for The gameplay itself, so I'll wait for a fix by Steam.

一応これをポストする前に検索をしたつもでしたが、私の単語チョイスが悪かった様です(^^;
確かに同じ症状の報告のスレッドが複数見つかりましたが、やはり解決方法などは今は無いみたいですね…。
幸いゲームプレイ自体には何の影響もない様なので、Steamの修正を待ちたいと思います。
