bonemass* boss fight just straight up sucks

Why are melee weapons in the game if you just force me to use bows every other second.
Why does poison last long enough to kill you with fully upgraded iron armor, I had eaten sausage, and cooked meat. I had pretty much the best stuff i could have before this point in the game, yet my iron battle axe still only did like 20 damage to him per hit despite how pathetically slow it swings. This fight is just unfun. On top of all of his garbage he just constantly spawns mobs.

Yeah I've often read here and heard from others that the Blob is one of the dumbest fights.
But look on the bright side, you only have to beat him once for the wishbone uu.
When you have absolute problems to kill him, you can even cheese him. There are hundreds video about this boss, because ... many people don't like him xD.

it sounds like you skipped mountain biome / tier weaps and went straight to plains; i did the same thing. Go to mountains and farm up that silver.

i didnt mean skeleton boss i changed it to say bonemass cuz thats what i meant,

Blunt weapons, poison resistance, prepare an arena before summoning. Simply maxing your hp and armor is rarely enough to facetank a boss.

Use blunt weapon (mace) since he's weak to blunt damage, use foods that give good health boost, and for the love of Cthulhu use poison resistance mead. Your armor doesn't protect you from poison. Think about it.

Blunt weapons work really well against bonemass, maces is what you need but still have to kite him a fair I trapped him with the hoe and cheesed him. And yes you can make potions it's mead. You need honey and other resources in the pot.

i geuss setting up traps, spikes an arena might be a good idea, ill get a mace and try potion making and give it another go later.

Have a look of my yesterday post. i explained how i killed him with only 97 frost arrows without any single damage from him. Zerooooo damage.

ps : I defeated Bonemass very easily some days ago. i've built two treehouses in front of his spawn area. The first one was with teleport and all the stuffs and the second was just higher in the opposit direction. I summoned him and ran to the second treehouse on the highest level. Bonemass was focusing on my first house. He destroyed the first level and kept on attacking the house. It took me 97 frost arrows to kill him from the second house.

I can see the appeal of shooting the bosses if you have max bow skill, mind.

Yeah, you really do need to use blunt against him. You'll drop him pretty quickly and fubar the blobs he throws down too. Just make sure you back off a bit when he preps for the big attack or throws blobs - don't want him sneaking up on you when you turn to attack them. He's surprisingly fast for a big blubber-butt.

Bonemass was the point in the game at which it became clear to me that ranged was not the universal solution for every boss, because bows absolutely suck against him whereas clubs wreck his face.

Haven't fought him yet, but we're preparing to. The advice I keep hearing is use maces (we got iron) and use poison resistance meads.

Apparently said meads slow the poison buildup but do not stop it entirely. They do however make the poison much less of an issue when it does buildup, reducing the damage and duration considerably.

First time I fought him, it was 8 of us and was a total rout. We ate the best food, had our resist, but we were trying to use bows with flint and fire arrows which are nearly useless plus with so many players his stats were hyper-buffed.

The second time, it was 2 of us, kiting with frost arrows. It took maybe 10 minutes and about 80 arrows each but it wasn't hard, just avoid his aoe.

The 3rd time, I cleared & flattened the area first then beat him solo with iron mace and shield. Other than the time spent hoeing, at only took a few minutes.
