to stupid for the wolves....
cavetroll, no problem. graydwarf zerg with some troll support, no problem. a bunch of brutes and shamans...no problem. but then the wild wolve comes around an 2 shots me. as soon as i lower my shield iam dead. arrows dont work well when he sees you...so whats the matter with this little fury basterds ? he seems to has a sniper close range attack that does triple damage to the face :D iam equipped with middle level copper gear, troll armor but see no land against them. any hints ?

Get iron armor or at least iron shield. Wolves attack too fast to kill them in melee without parrying. Or you can try hit and run tactic but it is hard with their speed.

Personally I found that axes work best - they're really easy to stagger, so as long as you hit them before they hit you, you can stun-lock them pretty easily.

They also have really low health compared to other enemies of their tier - 2-3 flint axe swings is enough to do them in.

There's your problem.
Stay out of the mountains until you're in iron.

Regular wolves I sleep
1 or 2 star wolves I fear

Go to a swamp and make iron gear first. Wolves are two tiers ahead of you, you're skipping a tier by fighting wolves, and at a serious disadvantage. Once you do have the gear for fighting wolves, their attacks have short windups and they're stunned for a very long time, so be sure to use a shield and parry their attacks.

You shouldn't try to go to the mountains without at least some iron armor. The biomes order goes from Meadows-Black Forests-Swamps-Mountains-Plains.
It's possible to go in with copper, just very unsafe. If you must go into the mountains, either play carefully(or cheesy) and snipe the wolves with some arrows.
I went into the mountains with fully upgraded Copper pants + helmet and a fully upgraded Iron chest armor and managed fairly well.
lol. first time i ever explored a mountain in troll/copper gear by spamming fires. died instantly to a wolf. they came at me when i tried to get my items back and i survived by running in circles around the fires until they burned themselves to death.
I like to call this tactic 'anxiety'

Start running, bait for him to strike, strike back, repeat. Can be easily killed with stone axe.

Zones are scaling difficulty. It goes like this. (No spoilers, just game mechanics)

Meadows < Black Forest < Swamp < Mountains < Plains < Mistlands (On its way)

Ocean is on its own level and if you travel around enough, you'll find out why.

If you're doing Mountains without having advancement up to Swamp, you're going to have a hell of a time. A buddy and myself tried killing creatures in the Plains when we were at the Black Forest stage and it was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare. Just know that you need to basically avoid certain areas until you advance thoroughly.

They are one of the few creatures where you might have to think a little instead of just mashing your left mouse button. You learn to respect the 2 star wolves in pacts and that's a good thing. I would not even try venturing there unless in all iron at lest. A pack of them can hit pretty hard, but they do not have much HP.

I think if you are using copper gear and are already fighting wolves, you might be moving a bit too fast.

Then I shouldnt have build my camp near that moutain, lol.... its not that i venture into their space, but the opposite. sometimes they came down and hunt some deer, or vikings for fun. i think the last one who made me this trouble was a 1star. i killed one but dut died once. so next plan. build a limes around the mountain :D

hi friends Feb 24, 2021 @ 11:36pm
I find using some woods and 5 stones more efficient. 10 to place workbench, 20 to trap the wolf, campfire to burn that wolf. Though this was what I did when I'm undergeared and stumbled upon mountain before swamp.

or use raw meat to tame them, dunno.

THANK YOU! So many posts I have seen with player saying "Git Gud" and "Looks like someone is unprepared" etc.. This is actually a great tip!

you mean like the post you quoted of me where i specifically told the other guy complaining that wolves are OP, by telling him to get iron gear/weapons before heading to the mountains?

yeah shame on me.
i should watch my language and really do a pizza chart kind of explanation for those of us who try to put square pegs into the round holes when playing this game.

i should talk to people like they were straight out of kindergarten, because sarcasm and hyperbole is rude and thus should be illegal. its clearly way more respectful of someone else's intelligence to treat them and talk to them like they're a 6 year old.

get a grip.
