They also have really low health compared to other enemies of their tier - 2-3 flint axe swings is enough to do them in.
Stay out of the mountains until you're in iron.
1 or 2 star wolves I fear
Go to a swamp and make iron gear first. Wolves are two tiers ahead of you, you're skipping a tier by fighting wolves, and at a serious disadvantage. Once you do have the gear for fighting wolves, their attacks have short windups and they're stunned for a very long time, so be sure to use a shield and parry their attacks.
It's possible to go in with copper, just very unsafe. If you must go into the mountains, either play carefully(or cheesy) and snipe the wolves with some arrows.
I went into the mountains with fully upgraded Copper pants + helmet and a fully upgraded Iron chest armor and managed fairly well.
I like to call this tactic 'anxiety'
Zones are scaling difficulty. It goes like this. (No spoilers, just game mechanics)
Meadows < Black Forest < Swamp < Mountains < Plains < Mistlands (On its way)
Ocean is on its own level and if you travel around enough, you'll find out why.
If you're doing Mountains without having advancement up to Swamp, you're going to have a hell of a time. A buddy and myself tried killing creatures in the Plains when we were at the Black Forest stage and it was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare. Just know that you need to basically avoid certain areas until you advance thoroughly.
or use raw meat to tame them, dunno.
you mean like the post you quoted of me where i specifically told the other guy complaining that wolves are OP, by telling him to get iron gear/weapons before heading to the mountains?
yeah shame on me.
i should watch my language and really do a pizza chart kind of explanation for those of us who try to put square pegs into the round holes when playing this game.
i should talk to people like they were straight out of kindergarten, because sarcasm and hyperbole is rude and thus should be illegal. its clearly way more respectful of someone else's intelligence to treat them and talk to them like they're a 6 year old.
get a grip.
