Should I make Bronze Armor?
I am contemplating making the Bronze armor but I hear the speed debuff is a problem. I need more survival defenses in the game because I been getting chain attacked by Trolls and Greys. I prefer melee combat as well, but not sure how the debuff will limit that playstyle. any opinions on this?

I did it, didn't regret it. The difference in movement isnt so much its a problem and the tougher armor really does help more and more as its upgraded further from what Troll armor gives.

It depends on your play style, the armor is more for tanking, if you are good at not taking hits the troll hide is decent until wolf.

However I still suggest making it, its a game and making bronze you may just upgrade and put away is still worth, worth the fun (or grind) to earn and upgrade.
Put it away, and if you feel you need it... its in your treasure vaults, waiting for the king...

In short you are the Viking king in Valheim, even if it dont make sense, you want it and no enemy will stop you adding it to your vaults, take and win, its all yours.

I think Bronze Armor is worth it. It upgrades very well and the speed debuff is marginal.

Bronze armor is only slightly better than troll armor of the same upgrade level. So yes, it's skippable.

I have it and use it because i'm terrible at blocking and get greedy on hits. If you're good at dodging it's probably fine to use troll armor instead. If you're not? 100% go bronze. Trolls and enemies in the biome after black forest will easily body you without at least troll armor. If you're not good at dodging or get unlucky you'll be even worse off there.

The speed debuff from Bronze armor isn't really that bad once you get used to it.
You might be 10% slower when wearing it, but you won't be moving that much anyway as you're mostly just dodging and blocking.

Leather armors might be light to move in, but they don't offer enough armor for melee combat imo. They're more fitting for archery where you're kiting the enemies around which requires mobility.

What we did is make trenches around the base and added spikes. Just arrowed each troll to death while they were in the trenches.

I am using troll pants, bronze helm and cuirass and leather cloak, 35 total armor, speed debuff is of course noticeable but not hindering in practice. Overall at level4 tech, using this setup instead of 4pc troll gives extra 10 armor, this is definitely worth more then -stealth- and 5% slower movement speed

I skipped from Troll to Iron. Fully upgraded Troll armor is plenty tough enough for the Swamp.

Too difficult for me in swamp with troll armor, I try to make the bronze one and it is good. It was really helpfull for me. 28 points max for troll vs 39 "level 2" for the bronze amor .

I would suggest against it due to the time investment versus the payoff. Troll armour is a lot easier to make and upgrade, and the bronze armour won't compete without also being upgraded which takes a lot more time.

Also the troll armour doesn't slow you down (meaning more stamina saved) and has a nice little set bonus. Looking back it probably could have lasted me through Bonemass but iron is a big defensive upgrade. Iron is also a lot quicker to farm and smelt compared to bronze once you find just one or two good swamps.

If you aren't in a rush to beat game then why not make it ? I made bronze everything and upgraded it all because I wanted to complete everything .

However I would say skip the bronze and use troll armor . Then make iron armor . You could skip that too and just use the shield + iron mace . Depends on how tanky you want to be .

Also end game armor uses iron so you risk wasting iron if you make fully upgraded iron armor.

Honestly i skipped the bronze armor since it's alot easier to just upgrade the troll armor to lvl4. It will be decent enough until you can craft iron armor and you'll save yourself alot of time farming for bronze since bronze isn't balanced.
(3 items for 1 bar). They should really make it so you get 2-3 bronze from 2 copper/1 tin since the volume would be the same.

In retrospective I would skip bronze armor.

You'll be forced to make metal armors past bronze because there's no alternative.

Might as well make the most of the troll armor when you still have the alternative. You'll probably accumulate troll hides and craft it anyway.

Plus it's a pain to farm bronze and you'll need bronze / copper even in late game for forges, base interior and so on.
