But armor should have its own slot and not be classes and inventory.
As for carry weigh, I'd rather there were more logistical solutions to managing weight. The cart in it's current form kind of sucks. It's easily damaged, gets focused by enemies, and needs to be repaired constantly.
I'd like them to add an Iron reinforced cart (takes reduced damage), horses (or ox) with saddle bags, and even ox driven carts.
Give it time. In the meantime, find the trader and get a belt. :)
There is a suggestion in the official bug platform for this, which is one of the most highly upvoted, and is the most upvoted suggestion on Reddit as well.
Edit: I like hard games, I like the no ore teleport rule, but what I don't like is to sort and discard items every 2 minutes, especially when you have 4 slots for armor, 1 for utility, 3 for potions and 3 for food already taken, and the variety of items continues to increase as you progress.
I still need to manage my inventory, those items still have weight, but I don't spend most of my time discarding random things that I pick up constantly.
Personally I'd like to go further and say we should have two trinket slots. Make Dverger circlet a trinket instead of a helmet. Everyone is going to have megingjord equipped because of how valuably it is. However, with a second slot now you open up more options with the wishbone, Dverger circlet, or maybe even give the swamp key some properties when equipped as a trinket.
I believe the inventory should be larger as well, meaning both more slots and more weight
No, it shouldn't.
Piling it at the bottom of my inventory space just felt messy and unfinished. Having its own place, laid out as it appears on the body (paper-doll style) is much more refined and appealing to me personally.
No, it really shouldn't. It's fine as is. It works. It's simple. I hope they don't change it.
Beyond that, yes, crafting accessories that increase your inventory slots would be great too. It'd help with inventory management while giving you more upgrades to earn, and earning them upgrades is a huge part of what makes games like this fun.
