My Valheim in game storage solution:
So I was sick of running out of places to store things because I am a giant packrat and I made this to help with my concern:

To make it you need to use the the 1 meter wood beams and 1x1 wall pieces.

You can build the frame by using 1m wood beams going left to right as large as you want your storage space to be. Each 1m wood beam can fit 1 reinforced chest (OR normal chest).
Then after you place a chest, you need to put the 1m wood beam left to right across while holding the shift key to unlock the "sign beam" placement. (effectively making a 1x1 box).

Reminds me of storage warehouses in Terraria. Hope modders can figure out an equivalent of Terraria's Magic Storage mod somewhen.

I go through wood so fast that I haven't had the need for more storage yet... But I have a few untouched boxes if I need to store more wood.

why can i see your signs but when I make them I can't see mine?

Thanks, didn't think about going vertical, I've been stacking boxes horizontal on wood floor pieces

I've gone to carts for storage of some items, lol I have an entire motor pool of them now. :)

I have to say this is one of my least favorite things about these types of games. Walls/warehouses of chests are lame and the time you spend dealing with them is even more lame.

In some games like this I reach a breaking point and bail out to play modded minecraft instead where I can deal with storage in a civilized way (automation well beyond the scope and possibilities of any game that isn't heavily modded minecraft)

I'm trying some mods for pulling from chests for crafting and putting away crap auto because this nonsense gets old. This at least gets one to something like a Terraria level of barbarism vs full on cave man.

Open storage containers from anywhere? That exists - check Nexus, I think it was just added this week.

When placing the sign, make sure the "..." is viewable, otherwise you are placing the sign the wrong way :P.

More like a modular storage solution. Starter block that gives access, and expansions that give item stacks based on tier level. Allows putting hundreds or thousands of different item types in a single storage, with crafting access enabled.

Cuts out all the tedium of inventory management.

i didn't even bother putting signs on mine. I just stack all storage together vertically facing me. Put a bit on space to signal which one is which. Whatever that went with that table construct i put next to it. I put some ground level and then i built a flat platform right above it and just built more storage.

Originally I just stacked basic chests on top of each other, but I hated having to roughly guess which chests had what stuff in in (since I horde everything) .

As far as I am concerned this was my only possible solution to my problem...

Even if it costed me
84 Iron
420 fine wood
42 coal
and 500+ wood to build...

i got tired of opening my chests 200 times a day so im using "Craft Build Smelt Cook Fuel Pull From Containers" mod now. never have to open chests again unless its for storage

So basically this.

I wish the iron boxes were a little shorter. They look a uncomfortably snug on a half-wall-tall shelf.

Yeah normal chests look better when arranged, but it takes roughly the same space to stack 4 regular chests together as it does to stack 2 reinforced chests side by side.

Yeah I lose out on 4 inventory spaces (40 vs 36) but I much prefer only having one box with a sign, instead of multiple boxes for nearly everything I horde...
