The game autosaves every 20 minutes and you can change that yourself. If you lose 20 minutes of progress, what have you really lost? Days of work in 20 minutes? Really?
Personally, I'm considering setting autosave to hourly, since if I want to save manually, all I have to do is log out.
Stability issues are to be expected with an EA title this new, but I would not say that they are ridiculously unstable at all. In fact, it is remarkably stable, all things considered.
As for your Unity remark, what does that mean?
If the autosave interval can be changed then it isn't in the standard game settings. I shouldn't need to futz around with the console or config files to set something like this. Again, autosave while sleeping would make far more sense.
And what have I lost? Time and frustration. Going into areas that are a pain and getting things back out again isn't something I would want to do twice because the game crashed before the next autosave. Taking down a tough boss isn't something I'd want to do twice just to get back to where I was. A more sensible default save policy would alleviate that frustration.
I haven't had a single crash or game breaking bug. I can say with a lot of certainty that it is more "Finished" than some AAA titles I've played over the years. In every way.
Ridiculously unstable? I've never had a crash of major issue with Valheim. It could be something with your rig. I've had no issues with the dozens of Unity games I own.
Save on sleep would be a good feature to have added.
That said, I don't disagree with it saving during sleep, or heck even Teleporting, something that's already taking up time and could be used to cover up auto saves and those are also points you aren't in any imminent danger.
Not one crash or save issue. Problem is yours?
Well, there are over 300 posts containing the word crash on the bugs and crashes forum.

However, 300+ people out of six million players? Could be system issues and not necessarily the game.
Only 300, that is honestly lower than I would have suspected at a guess. I hadn't really looked into it too much since my own experience had been free of any issues(Shy of the save stutter). Its possible the unique user posting is even lower, or they're using that word to say they haven't had crashes, so it could be even less people having that particular experience(At least of those that visit the discussion threads).
Which honestly, impressive that so little traction on a subject is being had about world crashes on a EA game with 5 Million players.
