Draugr village; a really neat find.
So after many, many hours of exploring I came upon a first (at least for me). It was an entire village filled with Draugr.

And this was not just a few ruins. It had a great house, a large storehouse?, several longhouses and two towers (both manned by 2 Draugr archers each) all of which was intermittently surrounded by wooden palisades. Each of the larger houses had a few 'generators' inside as well as a number of Draugr archers and elites. And there were several Draugr 'patrols' in the village.

It was actually quite neat and something I never expected.

And the architecture of the buildings and the layout of the base is interesting enough that I am going to repair and rebuild it to its former glory.

For being a product of procedural generation this was a big win.

So have I just been unlucky not finding such a Draugr village yet?

Same thing happened with me, I've explored a lot on my map and after a hundred hours or so stumbled upon such village nested between meadows and plains. It was pretty neat do discover something like this, it had this cool western / post apocalyptic fee about it.

Think it's pretty rare because I haven't found another one ever since. I thought of restoring it and making a base but then saw that it was a constant warzone between endless boars, neks and greylings wandering into the village and the fulings coming in to hunt them down.

Yea they spawn in meadows some distance away from your main island. Yesterday I was clearing the village when I somehow got stuck in one of the towers and died from two ranged drauger's. Also claimed one of the houses to regain the rested status and throwing junk in a nearby chest.

In hindsight I should've left 1 spawner up for elite draugers to spawn or just to farm them.

It happens when I find meadows meets swamp biome. It was not uncommon for me but a cool find.

Yeah I found one bordering the Plains so I ran around and opened all the doors then dragged some Fulings over and watched an epic cage match! :steamhappy:

You will find many of those in the Meadows around the world.
They all look the same...you know there are Draugr in there just by looking at the size of the houses.
If you destroy the houses you will get fine wood and iron nails sometimes...i used the Iron Sledge to clear the last one i found...started hammering my way to the house from outside.

they tend to be in any meadows just further out for the center where you almost start finding the Plains area's they are neat for sure.. I found one high up on a hill right below a mountain. was such a cool area.

There are rune stones in the swamps that tell what exactly happened to the Draugr btw.. that was a very interesting read.

My map seed has turned out to be really nice. Nice sized islands with lots of resources.

The bosses have been progressively farther out from the 'starting point', but nothing terrible. Searching for the drake atm.

Since I have not had to travel to terribly far for the first three bosses I suppose I have been lucky (but then I missed out on an early Draugr village discovery).

Hopefully there are more such finds to come (yeah, already getting primed for those goblin villages; and yes, you know they are goblins).

I do hope on release there are some more dungeon types as well.

they are so peaceful from a distance!

I ended up busting up the buildings to clear it out. Lots of chests, and core wood building parts were used a lot.
About 20 draghr in all the buildings combined, and 6 or so spawn piles.
