Depends on the weather.
Aequdsama Mar 16, 2021 @ 10:19pm
No, it is not. Ever been on a boat in an open ocean? There are times with no wind for several hours
Lunacy Mar 16, 2021 @ 10:20pm
Wind is in my favor
5 second later
oop time for wind to change in the opposite direction

Once you beat Moder, the wind won't be a problem.

I believe it is random.

You can tack to continue moving roughly in the direction you want to go.
yeh my guess is about 40 mins at least for a good wind

Random. Go at and angle and/or use speed 1 to paddle.
Krampus Mar 16, 2021 @ 11:08pm

I'm convinced that the game knows when you beat him. 2 play throughs and each time after I beat him I rarely ever have to use the skill.

just use the mini wind map to see the direction of the wind, sometimes you will need to use your boat in reverse. I have never had no wind, when i did not understand how it worked i would sit and wait for the wind but once you realize that you can travel in reverse too then you will never be stationary again.

Stationary? You know you can row forward just as well as backward?

He sometimes watches you from beneath his cloak .. Randomly, from various locations around the world.

So basically in Valheim we kill Mother to get her power and use her drops and have Father just .. stalking us O.O.

Either tack or row. and before you know it, the wind will change. Or maybe not, but you'll get were you wanna go regardless, eventually.
Just remember that paddling a longship forward , 1>, is 11km/h, whereas a raft at full speed, 3>>>, with 100% wind intensity is sailing at 11½km/h, so embrace the paddling of your longsip and be happy that you're not on a raft. Happy like the bees. :D

Did you know that paddling backwards seems to be faster than paddling forward?
