How do you dispose of your trash mats?
Someone probably has a better solution than my mixture of dumping them in the ocean and dumping them in a crypt very near my base.

I always just throw stuff down or in the sea when possible. Supposedly they de-spawn after a day or two if there isn't a crafting table in range. Need a way to dismantle, imo.

There is no such thing as trash mats... but seriously , some people make a hole in their building where it all drops under the floor. I usually just go to the end of my doc and throw it in the ocean. Or i just toss stuff out into the forest wherever i found it if I know I don't need / want it

Installed a recycle mod and trash mod. There's even a "trash can" mod that allows you to craft and place a bin that deletes items when placed in it.

If Odin intended mods to dispose of unwanted items then why did he invent to ocean?

I dug a hole near my base outside of the range of any workbenches and I just chuck unwanted stuff in there. It doesn't take too long to disappear. Usually a day or so.

Stuff disappears after awhile, im guessing based on whats around. 4th boss destroyed a small stone fort nearby. I went back for the stone a few days later and it was all gone.

dig a hole away from your workbench and dump trash there

- Dig a small hole somewhere close by
- Close up all but one opening of the hole with wooden floors (about a 1x2 small floor space wide)
- Make two posts indicating where a player should stand between for thrown object to go into the hole
- Throw anything you don't want into the hole
- ???
- Profit!

Create a new map and dump them all there. Delete map.

Just a couple of points:

1) Make a toggle for the auto pick-up feature. There are times when I want to leave inventory space for what I came to collect.

2) If one can build a storage pile for a material, i.e., wood or stone, then one shouldn't be able to put it in a chest. As it is, one can build a wood pile holding 50 wood or, in the same soace, build two chests each holding 500 wood. Same goes for ancient bark, core wood, fine wood and any of the metal ores.

3) Allow building of trash heaps similar to muddy scrap piles. Throw the stuff you no longer want on the heap and let it sit there. Over time individual pieces should degrade, perhaps even break down into the materials used to make them. One could then go dumpster diving for materials. Toss that iron tower shield in there. Fort the first game monthor two, one could dig it out and repair it. After that one could at least get some of the materials used to construct it.

And I hear ypu already. Number Two would make the game more of a grind than it already is. Number Three? A programmer's nightmare and a lot more overhead for the game engine to keep track of.

I store unwanted stuff in the pre-existing world generated chests in random buildings & ruins, as well as in chests in crypts & dungeons. as mobs won't bother attacking them. depending how much stuff I want to get rid of. When it gets full, I find another one.

I have a portal set up near the Alter in a building with lots of storage boxes. I warehouse anything I don't need or quit using there, to keep my base storage less cluttered.
