container to put resin / coal for auto fill torch's and brazers
So, i made a big base but the most anoying part of it is , running ALL over the base to restock the light fixtures with resin or coal, is there any plan to make some container you can put in to coal and resin to auto fill those ? so dont have to run around every where ? or is that already on the list ? if not what do people think about an idea like that ? Similer to how in Conan Exiles they had a Thrall pot where you put the food in and it fed all the thralls in a certain range from the pot.

One day I put a plate on a table for 2 months, it never auto-filled with food or anything. I feel you, bro.
There is a mod that makes it so they don't run out.

I certainly hope they'll just add a way to make an unending light source. Over time, our bases are only going to get bigger. Eventually we'll have more torches than we can possibly refill simply due to lack of materials. They've already tried cracking down on farming spawners so it isn't reasonable to assume we'll have some way to consistently fuel an ever-growing array of torches.

There's also the Craft from Containers mod - a couple of strategically-placed chests with nothing but resin in them and you have what you're asking for. You still have to refill, but it's much, much faster.

There is also a container mod if I am not mistaken, still would be nice to have the option ingame I do not like having to run in my whole base to recharge every single light since I have a ton.

Well not wanting to use mods or cheats , but somthing in the game , and since im asuming there not going to ever have NPC helpers like in Conan Exiles , it would be nice to have some way to just place mats in a box or somthing and any lighting in that radious feeds of those. i like how they do go out over time , makes when i go to a old base it feel like i have not been there in a long while

The part about running out of materials , im not sure that can happen ? those breaded grey dwarves drop TONES of materials and you can plant more trees and turn wood into coal so unlimited risen and coal , just the issue is walking to EVERY light fixture in the base and replenishing it all with a huge base gets teedious , so a way to just dump your mats in one box that will auto put those mats in all the lights around it would be nice , so then still if the box is empty and the lights run out they go out a good time saver i think no ? course you can use mods but for those that like playing the game raw and all.

Valheim Plus does all that, but it has certain risks that come with using it.

But yeah I agree 100% I'd love to have viking NPC/thralls of some sort that we could assign tasks to. And to keep it balanced, they would need to be fed and/or paid for their services...

Still say we should train a bird to do it. pesky seagulls and ravens... ;p

But if you have hundreds of torches across your world, you'll need hundreds of resin to refuel them. It's not a matter of resin being a renewable resource, it's simply that at some point it will be impossible for you to keep up resin production to match the demand as you keep building even if you had a magic box to feed them all.

But if you have hundreds of torches across your world,
I found the problem! hundreds? I have like 10 total for 2 large single player homes. Are you spamming them on every 1x1 wall block? I mean, build what you want to, and I hope you get your wish of an eternal flame type light, but I am totally curious why you need or want hundreds of the things and what you did with them. Got pics?

As slow as it burns vs dwarf respawn / spam rates, I could certainly fuel hundreds. I have an entire large chest of the stuff, and I chunk it if I need room for a useful item, so there are hundreds more I have just tossed out to make space.

It was just an example. The point is, as you keep building, you're only likely to add more. Sure, you could stop feeding some of them, but there's still likely plenty of places that you're going to visit. I currently have about 15-20 in my main work area that I plan to upgrade to sconces soon to reduce resin usage because I'm close to the point where I'm net negative on resin accumulation. I've got plans to add another 8 or 10 torches to light up my boat house. I also have a couple of farm houses that have remained unlit in part because it'd be a pain to separately manage the resin consumption there as well. At some point, my plains farm and future lox breeding area is going to need lighting as well. And we're only about half way through the game's content. It's not beyond reason that by the time I finish the game that I'll have roughly a hundred or more torches around my various bases.

Something you also have to keep in mind, is as we go further you're likely to be fighting less grey dwarves and more late game enemies. I wouldn't bank on the rate of resin collection keeping up with demand between the two factors of both supply and demand side.

fighting less grey dwarves
let me know how that works out lol :)
My last trip to the plains was a windfall, there were about 30 dead dwarf corpses where they had decided to pet a lox.

Maybe it'll be fine. I just know that in the last couple days of playing I've used more resin than I've collected and demand is only ever going to continue going up or else I'll be severely limited in my lighting options.

Ya, if you have hundreds of those then ! they obviously wount all be light , i was jsut saying like at the main base or small areas so dont have to go around where i have my main base and relight every thing, seprately , just make a box with a range like the work benchs and it keeps them toped off and dump the mats in that, if you have 100 + all around some might die out just have to refill them or a box near them like what im thinking say your at point A and have 50 lights around dump 200 risen or coal in and itll start filling them up maybe over a slow time or somthing so dont have to run every where and say you walk acros the world and there is another area with many torchs you can dump it in one box and turn a group on , instead of going to every single one individualy. that woul be a huge time saver , cause there is so much else can be doing on that game then haveing to worry about keeping every light in your base on .
