Burned out trying to find Surtling Cores

Have had no luck finding these dam caves.. I find Troll dens with yellow mushrooms but not one graveyard or whatever where the Surtling Cores are.

Maybe try a new world seed?
Just grab the cores from there and take them back to your current world.

When you see skeletons in the black forest, it means one of two things.

1 there is an abandoned ruin.
2 there is a burial chamber.

The first one is easy to spot because it is a large stone building. The second is what you are after. If you see skeletons and no large stone building in site search the area thoroughly for an entrance to the chamber. There you will find your first source of cores until you progress further.

Also, caves are not burial chambers. The difference is obvious once you've seen both ;)

Once you get to the swamp, there are fire geysers that spawn surtlings, a somewhat obnoxious enemy when you first meet it, eventually, they are pushovers, and you can have a renewable source of surtlings cores :)

Initially though, you just need to find enough burial chambers to get at least 10 to make your kiln and smelter, burial chambers themselves have a decent amount of RNG, I had one with 17 cores in it! And I had another with none, it's all luck xD

Keep looking you'll get there :D

they pretty much look like a mound of dirt for the ones ive found easy enough to just run by if you are in a hurry or if there is a lot of trees around it

I had trouble with this too early on. I ended up getting what I needed from a swamp biome instead.

I've noticed that there tends to be blue mist/smoke around the burial chambers. So that could be something to look out for.

i usually find them in black forest where skeletons are.

- Don't enter troll caves look for burial chamber, enter troll cave if your looking for trolls.

- if your unlucky, find a swamp, look for a fire pillar, snipe the mob guarding it, dig around the fire so water flow to the side, find a tree build up, afk, then profit. you will have coal and core for days.

Another thing to keep in mind: You don't NEED to have all of them at once. If you can collect 5 you can get bronze. Make the kiln, make a bunch of charcoal, then reclaim it to use the same cores to make the smelter. Once you have your initial bronze gear you can even smash the smelter to make portals which can help expand your exploration for more cores.

It took me a long time to get more than 4 cores. I had gone through several burial chambers that had nothing. Eventually I started finding chambers with 10+ cores. it's the RNG, but if you keep looking you will find them either in a burial chamber, or elsewhere as others have mentioned. I have found that it often helps to travel a decent distance from where you start. In some spots I've seen two or three burial crypts that were very close together.

RasaNova is right, as long as you can get five you can work on making some bronze, tin, and copper ingots. You'll eventually progress to the point where you have more cores than you'll ever need.

i found 10 cores in my first dungeon in the black forest. however i can't find sunken crypts for the life of me. i've gone through 4 swamp areas and found 1.
