Buff Parry?

So obviously some people will feel differently when it comes to buffing or nerfing something but I really don't see a use in using the parry feature. Sure you break their guard and do more damage but it isnt enough extra damage to make a difference. Example incoming...

When I attack a Greydwarf they take 2 hits to kill when I block, but they also take 2 hits to kill when I parry. So all I did by parrying was risk messing up and getting hit.

Say a normal attack does 50 damage and an enemy has 100 health. From what I can tell a parry does 75. So yeah you can parry for more damage but no matter what you have to hit them twice. So i'm guessing they made parry deal 150% damage rather than 200% like most games.

TL:DR All your doing by parrying is risking losing health, you aren't actually influencing the outcome of a fight.

Parry lets you take down a Brute in two hits. Impossible without parrying first.

You won't have to hit them twice when you get a better weapon..

Parrying stops an attack, prevents damage, gives you brief respite for regaining some stamina, and allows you do deal significantly more damage to the stunned enemy.

Corner a troll in a cave and parry him to death with bronze tier weapons, easy as pie. Face tanking a troll without parry tactics and low level gear and you're going to lose.

this is a classic example of git gud. the parry system is great and works as intended. your are in the small minority who dont like, it sorry to hear that. but yeah its fine as is

also if you dont liek the parry system get the huge square shield thats meant for mindlessly blocking all the time

Aha. What's your opinion about the usefulness of parrying when you actually face some tougher enemies? In the mountains or the plains? Ever encountered Fulings with stars? Stone golems?

Never tried to parry giant enemies (Such as a troll) didn't think it would be possible since well... It's honestly unrealistic xD If anything that shouldn't be a thing. However I stun lock trolls with a bow since two full charged head shots stuns them which also shouldn't be a thing lol. So guess I can't really judge.

Parry (with shield) is pretty much standard affair at a high level. It will make sense when you have 5 fulings trying to take 5% of your skills away.

If anything 2hd weapons need a buff as well as a buff to Parry frames. BlackMetal sword and shield renders all weapons outside of a Dragur Fang bow worthless.

From my experience parry does 2x damage across the common suite of weapons, but again, from the sounds of your progression, your weapons wont allow you to see the potential, where a parry can allow for you to one shot a mob after also blocking incoming hits.

Parrying also increases the damage you block by the parry bonus.
For example a fully upgraded black metal shield can block 100 damage, but it will block 150 damage when you parry.
A successful parry also reduces the stamina you use when doing so...

When fighting tough enemies, parry provides a significant bonus to the amount of damage blocked. IIRC for most shields it's 1.5x, for the bronze buckler it's 2x. At end game, with highest level gear and a Block skill of 25, my parry was broken by a 2-star melee Fuling but my armor fully absorbed the rest of the damage. This also means non-tower shields can block more damage with parry, as the tower ones cannot parry.

Ahh okay so it blocks even more damage. More helpful then. I didn't know "Parry bonus" tied into Defense. Then again I guess idk why you'd take damage at all if you blocked or parried a hit. I'd have thought blocking or evading a hit would mean no damage as that's kind of the point of blocking or evading a hit, so you don't get hurt. Oh well, atleast the amount of damage is low enough I don't even notice it anyway.
