How to attack?

I keep playing the game as a carnivore and just scavenge for food. i looked at the controls and it says "attacks". i click E but i then switch attacks, but how do i USE them?

just click

Press q to select strike. Then just click when you are right next to an animal. If you succeeded in doing these steps, the status of the animal you attack should be hostile.

you have to change your mood to angry with q, switch your attack to what you wish with e, and then click the target.
