But anyway, yeah you need money except if you play on easy/normal. :P
i'm playing on hard and I don't have enough coinage even with the obsessive checking of everything and attacking the vendors. oh and one boss fight will kill your supply might quick.
the difficulty would then come from facing oppenants that have been geared for players with upgraded stuff.
There's not enough coin to upgrade everything available in the game, so you'll want to keep collect them if you want maximun choices of weapons and vigors. However, if you are only going to upgrade a set of favorate weapons and vigors, and keep using the same set throughout the game, the coins are more than enough.
If I were to replay the game again, I'll choose to upgrade only 3 to 4 weapons and vigors to its maximun and leave the rest untouch. Then I can drop the act of looting altogether and only collect coins when it feels natural to do so, thus keep the pace of storytelling fluent.
Although I say that, from the point of view of someone who played the game on Medium difficulty.
