Flavouring fried desserts
I cannot stop scratching my head. No matter what I do the fried dessert template never gets any flavour. I've thrown several spices in, got oil, honey, jam, fruits, chocolate, anything. Taste is no issue, I got that to 50 alright, but flavour stays at a nasty 0. I would really like to have some Miniberliners in some of my restaurants and not rely on cheesecake all the time, but if I cannot get any flavour in, it's rating will never go above 130, which is not much. Especially not with high quality ingredients.

I'm starting to get desperate. Has anyone found out how to get some flavour with fried desserts? Is there some sort of bug or is it actually intended to never get flavour at all (which I highly doubt, but who knows)?

No other template has this issue either. Cheesecake, Pie, Ice Cream you name it. The other non-dessert templates also work without issue.

Maybe it is a glitch in your save file? I checked my fried dessert recipe that is 50 flavor and 50 taste:

Flour 80g
Egg 40g
Milk 30g
Salt 8g
Sugar 15g
Potato 15g
Tomato 15g
Garlic 5g
Basil 5g
Mint 1g

If you want a fruit tag on the recipe you can add in

Banana 45g
Cilantro 5g
Black Pepper 5g
Salt 3g for total of 11g

Super late but if you click on an ingredient, it will turn the background of the other ingredients either green or blue. Green indicates flavor compatibility and blue indicates perfect flavor compatibility. If the backgrounds stay white, that means they are not compatible.

Make sure not to use too many ingredients to max your taste because it will be harder to determine which ingredient is lowering your flavor score. I use salt and sugar to max my taste, so i can use real ingredients for the flavor. :steamsalty:

Alright, so I tested your recipe and got a sweet 50/50, so it isn't a bug. Thing is when it comes to desserts I always avoid any and all vegetables (largely due to the "Wait what?" malus), so my usual go-to ingredients (garlic and onion) for little flavour were out of the equation. And since the template looks a lot like mini Berliners, I tried to recreate those.

Specifically I had this long list that reeks of "pls get 50 taste already":
85 g Flour
45g Egg
30g Milk
25g Cream (in retrospect I don't even know why I used cream)
30g Jam
30g Strawberry
5g Seeds Oil
10g Sugar
4g Vanilla
4g Gelatine (I usually don't use this ingredient, so this was the point desperation set in)
10g Vinegar (had to tone down sweetness somehow)
15g Lemon

Now it is 50 taste, alright, just 0 flavour. When adding potatoes randomly, it would get at least 3 flavour, so yeah... I guess I need to start using veggies in fried desserts.

Interestingly this conversation finally reminded me of potato pancake, which is also fried. I like it, but never considered trying to recreate it in the game. Perhaps worth a try, even though the template screams Berliner.

In any case, thank you for your answers. It helped me realize to at least consider using veggies in some desserts to add more flavour. :)
Out of interest: That recipe you used, is it representing anything specific? Or is it more a case of "It works in the game, so what the heck"?
