Chef
Chef or Tastemaker?
Has anyone here played Tastemaker and can compare it to Chef? They're both restaurant sims that seem to generally have the same gameplay. Tastemaker is a bit better reviewed and less expensive, but I don't think has been in development as long.

Also, have the Chef developers said anything about extra rooms (non-dining/kitchen)? Tastemaker has other rooms to build, but when I suggested it in 2019 for Chef, they were thinking about it. I don't think it made it into 1.0, but are more rooms planned?

Chef is a significantly better game. Having played some Tastemaker, I found it to just be a pure logistics game with a restaurant skin. There's very little creativity to it, and not a lot of fun interactions. I think the genuinely unique thing about Chef is the ability to create personalized menus and getting to cater to customers. Tastemaker is a lot more like the Papa's [Food] apps for your phone with better graphics and the ability to design your restaurant.

Another game you might like better (now that the bugs are largely being addressed) is Crossroads Inn. That would be a game I'd more appropriately compare to Tastemaker and is much better.

Tastemaker is currently very EA. There's very limited scope of the gameplay and content
around 12 recipes, 4 kitchen equips, the delivery/storage is a mess and is very frustrating even if you're only playing the minimum scenario.

There's no customization/upgrades for skills/staff/recipes/ingredients/ect (again, still in very early EA, believe it's a one person developing too)
the gameplay is pretty much, you figure out how your storage/stock needs--the main issue,
then everything else plays itself.
Room wise, it's uhh, not exactly? the "staff door" doesn't prevent customers from entering. You don't have to create rooms, it just looks better.
I got like . .an hour, two max out of Tastemaker, so it's a bit expensive for gameplay to price point wise compared to Chef (a bit unfair comparison as Tastemaker is still very new)

TLDR: tastemaker runs more of like a tycoon and it's too early in development that is currently barebone(very EA). Chef runs more of a restaurant with recipes customization simulation (complete with possible improvements/expansion)

It sounds like Tastemaker could be worth it in a couple years. For now I will play Chef.
